As a Director of Talent Acquisition at Defense Unicorns, you will help set
and own the strategy for attracting, recruiting, and hiring new talent
(i.e. Unicorns) at scale. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape

You will work autonomously in a fast-paced startup environment, leverage
previous talent acquisition experience, collaborate on and experiment with
current recruiting processes, and implement strong talent acquisition
operations practices and data analytics to enable the achievement of hiring
objectives that support business goals.
Responsibilities:
Learn our company's products and business model. Develop and execute a
comprehensive talent acquisition strategy tailored to the unique needs of our
company, supporting our business goals and growth objectives. Drive talent
acquisition initiatives on a global scale.
Strategize with leadership, departmental heads, and hiring managers and
People Operations across the organization to forecast talent requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional People Operations teams, including Total
Rewards (Compensation & Benefits), People Business Partners,
Learning & Development, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging
to share and support an integrated People strategy.
Build and nurture a robust talent pipeline by cultivating relationships with
top industry talent, networking within communities, raising awareness of
our company, and leveraging external partnerships. Position the company as
an industry leader from an employer brand perspective. Spearhead outreach
initiatives to cultivate talent pipelines from a diverse array of experience
including bootcamp programs, colleges, and universities.
Ensure effective, seamless, fair, and compliant sourcing and recruitment
processes at scale while maintaining clear and timely communication while
balancing the candidate experience with the hiring team experience and
business need.
Review and reassess the talent acquisition hiring processes, at a minimum,
every 12-18 months to identify areas for improvement and strategically
implement and manage changes to achieve system level outcomes. Advise on
training, guidance materials, and resources available to support
stakeholders involved in talent acquisition processes.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities
to the talent acquisition team (aka The Unicorn Collecting Team),
fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.
Utilize data-driven insights to track recruitment metrics, evaluate the
effectiveness of hiring strategies, and drive continuous improvement in
talent acquisition technologies, processes, systems.
Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best
practices in remote talent acquisition, maintaining our competitive edge in
the market.
Identify and escalate patterns and trends to leadership as a trusted advisor
with recommendations for the company.
Lead the full recruitment lifecycle for technical and non-technical
positions, leveraging innovative sourcing strategies to identify and attract
top talent from diverse backgrounds to foster a diverse and inclusive
workforce
Lead negotiations at the highest organizational level and support the
negotiation efforts at all levels to support the offer acceptance rate
leveraging a thorough understanding of the company's total rewards package.
Demonstrate an expert level of understanding of employment law and obligations
for federal government contractors that impact talent acquisition processes,
consulting with experts as needed, to dvise the company on guardrails and
best practices for legal hiring.
Review and negotiate contract terms with external search partners.
Propose plans for budgeting/investments in Talent Acquisition,
execution, and scale of the teams. Own decision making in partnership with
company and People Operations leadership.
Travel Expectations/Requirements: 10% - 20%

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
Proven track record of success in talent acquisition leadership roles,
preferably in remote or distributed work environments in the technology or
defense sectors.
Experience leading the end-to-end recruitment processes for technical and
non-technical roles, with a focus on sourcing and attracting top talent in a
competitive market.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire
and motivate teams and individuals to achieve goals and deliver results.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to
build relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across an
organization as well as externally on behalf of an organization.
Deep understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices,
with a commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive workforce while
maintaining legal and fair hiring practices.
Proficiency in data analysis and utilization of recruitment metrics to inform
decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
Familiarity with remote work technologies, collaboration tools, and
applicant tracking systems (Greenhouse) preferred.
