Front-Line Leader – Colorado Springs, Colorado

Summary

The Front-Line Leader is responsible for supporting the assembly production area and supervision of ensuring policies, leadership, quality, on-time, and efficiency performance goals are met. This role works closely with assembly employees and collaborates with other Supervisors and Front-Line Leaders for seamless continuation of activities and administrative support to reach production goals. This position is approximately 40% administrative with daily responsibilities that include production reports, maintenance, production logs, attendance logs, and other responsibilities as assigned.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintains organized and accurate records for the assembly department.

  • Assigns tasks in collaboration with Production Supervisor based on workflow and staffing availability.

  • Assists employees in various departmental duties including special projects and process improvements.

  • Maintains a daily record of production, scrap, rework, and aborts.

  • Assists team in performance of duties and troubleshooting equipment and processes to solve work problems.

  • Ensures employees comply with standards and safety rules.

  • Assists in identification and development of process improvements.

  • Performs production work at any station as needed.

  • Conducts quality audits as needed.

  • Responsible for ordering supplies and monitoring production material levels.

  • Responsible for inventory accuracy in assigned area, including cross-training assignments.

  • Assists the Supervisor/management team in developing associates to ensure consistent and efficient attainment of production schedules to optimum quality, productivity, and cost levels.

  • Enhances morale in the workplace and facilitate the interchange of production improvement ideas between other team leaders, team members, and company management.

  • Interacts closely with quality auditors, process engineers, scheduler, and other support staff to ensure optimum production flow regarding safety, quality, and quantity.

  • Supports other production areas as backup to other Supervisors when needed.

  • Understands and follows site-specific EHS expectations and adheres to EHS policies and practices within the site.

  • Implements and enforces Standardized Work practices, as well as identifying and addressing product defects to ensure quality compliance.

  • Identifies and completes documentation for major scrap and waste to optimize productivity and cost efficiency.

  • Takes proactive and reactive steps to resolve process abnormalities and leads team in implementing countermeasures and standardizing changes.

  • Monitors and manages team attendance to ensure consistent and positive customer experience.

  • Completes and submits necessary paperwork and audits to maintain accurate records and facilitate smooth shift transitions.

  • Conducts regular communication meetings to share team-specific information.

  • Utilizes effective coaching methods to train and develop team members, including maintaining up-to-date training documentation, and providing ongoing support and mentoring.

  • Implements and actively participates in the Managing Daily Improvement (MDI) process by documenting hourly results, reasons for target misses, and capturing daily results on plant-specific MDI boards.

  • Enforces standard procedures for BOMs, BOMs control, routers, deviations, quality, and inspections. No exceptions without management approval.

  • Responsible for creating and maintaining standards for daily team Manufacturing Execution System (MES) requirements and documentation to improve productivity and reduce errors in production.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or higher degree, preferred.

  • 3+ years in manufacturing, with at least 2 years of experience in the assembly area preferred.

  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to manage both personal and team’s workload and to prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Must be able to perform the functions of the positions in the department to which assigned.

  • Available for overtime as needed.

  • Must have good listening skills and the ability to work effectively with team members.

  • Must have basic math and reading skills.

  • Prior experience and understanding of basic computer and software functions.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of processes, parts, and safety requirements.

  • Ability to operate a pallet jack.

  • Commitment to follow all safety requirements and keep work area clean and orderly.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to read blueprints, production, and technical drawings.

  • Remains alert in a high-risk environment.

  • Maintains schedule and tasks despite interruptions.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly in an environment where heavy work is required and where moderate to loud noise occurs.

  • Employee is in an assembly plant/warehouse environment that can be dusty.

  • May be working around welding operations.

  • Overhead work may be required.

  • There is a frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, twist, bend, lift and move heavy objects (up to 35 pounds) and occasionally lift (up to 100 pounds) using a mechanical mechanism or two employees, and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday.

  • Production aids such as tilting assembly tables, overhead cranes, and forklifts can be used for these tasks in certain areas.

  • Personal protective equipment will be required and provided.

  • The individual in this job will be working under time pressure and must be able to perform under stress.

  • Employee must be able to work rapidly for long periods and communicate and interact with others.

  • Must be able to perform multiple concurrent tasks, read and comprehend the material they read.

  • The employee must be able to read, write, and problem solve.

  • 40+ hours per week plus overtime as needed will typically be necessary to accomplish performance objectives and to provide satisfactory job presence and/or responsiveness.

Compensation: This range is provided by Allegion. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.

  • The expected Base Hourly Range: $20.53 - $31.97. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
