Position Description
The Pipeline Scheduler is responsible for responding to customer questions,
analyzing and resolving issues regarding natural gas transportation
nominations, confirmations, scheduling, allocations, and performing
daily processing activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
In this position, either directly or through others, the incumbent:
Responds to customer inquiries/complaints via phone in a timely, accurate
and complete manner on a continuous basis throughout the day working in a
collaborative manner and with a sense of urgency through completion.
Processes nominations and confirmations following federally mandated deadlines
5 times per day as required under FERC and tariff guidelines.
Monitors imbalances on the pipeline, contacts departments within Kinder
Morgan for resolution, coordinates the collection of information,
recommends solutions to management, and represents the Company in response
to the customer.
Monitors proprietary natural gas scheduling computer system and near real-time
data system using SCADA data updated every 15 minutes, both of which
extensively use Windows environments where several windows are open and
running simultaneously.
Manages imbalances with customers while delivering a high level of customer
service in a non-discriminatory manner.
Mitigates impacts of planned and unplanned facility outages.
Other duties may be assigned.
Position Requirements
Minimum Knowledge & Education Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Familiarity with computer systems.
Preferred Knowledge & Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent work experience
with a natural gas transmission system.
Previous experience in a customer service position where complex concepts are
conveyed over the phone within a limited timeframe.
Knowledge and experience in using proprietary computer systems.
Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and
Excel.
Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets.
Required Skills & Abilities:
Highly developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills
appropriate in a dynamic open team office environment
Minimum of 3 years of experience or knowledge in a related technical field.
Ability to positively interface with customers personally via telephone in a
highly efficient, knowledgeable, and professional manner.
Ability to work in a team environment as well as work autonomously with
limited direct supervision.
Ability to balance competing priorities; work within tight and changing
deadlines and scope with a high degree of personal initiative.
Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize workload in a fast-paced and
frequently changing environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Solid analytical, conceptualization and problem-solving skills.
Strong computer skills including advanced proficiency with Microsoft software
products and aptitude to learn proprietary natural gas scheduling systems and
other applications quickly.
Working Conditions:
Requires flexibility in working hours that could range from 8 to 12-hour days
across multiple days either during the week, nights, weekends, or
holidays. The work schedule will change periodically as training progresses
and customer requirements change. Extended hours may be required with no
notice
Continual phone conversations throughout the day with customers, other
schedulers, pipeline controllers, supervisors, field personnel, and
interconnect operators.
Must be able to handle stressful situations and effectively manage operations
occurring simultaneously on different pipelines.
Must be able to work effectively and efficiently in an open space environment
shared by other team members as well as working remotely (at home, for
example).
The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a
comprehensive background check, a ter an offer has been extended and prior
to being employed.
Pay range: $74,000 - $110,000 per year. This position includes a
discretionary annual incentive plan. Job level and pay commensurate with
experience and skill set.
