Job Description:  Helping Hands Aides are a valuable member of our health care team who assist nursing services with non-care related activities, and may be directed by the Director of Nursing and/or Supervising Nurse, to ensure that non-direct resident care tasks are completed.

About us: The Belmont  is a skilled nursing facility located in Columbus, Indiana.  The Belmont   is seeking compassionate Helping Hands Aides to become a part of our team where our primary goal is to provide exceptional care to our residents. 

About the Role:  The Belmont   is seeking Helping Hands Aides to

  • Pass ice/water using infection control principles preventing contamination of ice scoop, pitchers, and equipment.

  • Maintain proper hand hygiene to maintain infection control.

  • Assist to serve meals after identifying resident and confirming correct diet. Assist with opening cartons, cutting food, etc., as necessary.

  • Maintain resident confidentiality.

  • Make unoccupied beds, observing infection control practices: (e.g., no linens on the floor, no shaking linens, carry linens away from body, proper placement of linens in barrel/bin with tops secured and use of good body mechanics).

  • Clean/organize closets and drawers per facility policy and procedures, maintaining Residents Rights.

  • Straighten resident room/bathroom between Housekeeping normal duties.

  • Retrieve/deliver linen to nursing assistants, as needed, stock linen carts, as needed.

  • Collect meal trays from halls, noting amount of food consumed.

  • Serve coffee/monitor dining room and alert staff of any resident needing assistance.

  • Assist residents to and from activities.

  • Answer call lights to inquire and communicate needs to appropriate staff.

  • Deliver HS snacks/beverage cart.

  • Make rounds and observe for appropriate fall interventions in place according to plan of care.

  • Clean and restock nourishment pantry, ensure all food items are labeled and dated.

  • Treat residents with kindness, dignity, and respect.

  • Report all incidents and accidents to supervisor.

  • Perform other job related duties as assigned by Charge Nurse and/or Supervising Nurse.

    About you:  The ideal candidate would have the following skills and experience.

  • High school graduate and/or equivalent desirable.

  • Must be able to read, write and follow oral instructions.

  • Must possess a current health certificate/examination required by State agencies.
