ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Perform load flow reliability, short circuit, and market efficient analysis using PSS/E, TARA, PROMOD, Gridview, UPLAN and other similar software.
Ability to write code/develop scripts to automate data exchange and assist with automation
Act as the primary planning interface between the Company and each of the respective RTOs competitive transmission expansion planning activities. Actively engage with the RTO planning staff to advocate in support of transmission business.
Perform engineering work activities to support the grid development function by developing a comprehensive long-term portfolio of competitive transmission investments. These responsibilities include: performing transmission analyses and identifying reinforcement plans; obtaining project approval and authorization; and interacting with other groups during project development, certification, and implementation.
Participate in regional planning studies with applicable RTOs and neighboring systems in order to provide for the coordinated operation and future development of a reliable bulk power system on a regional and inter-regional basis. Initiate and coordinate studies with other transmission owners and assist in negotiating commercial transmission development agreements.
Perform engineering work activities to support strategic business and transmission policy initiatives, in particular their Clean Energy Future. Provide technical support in various regulatory and policy activities related to transmission. Provide input and prepare testimony for regulatory and legal filings, as appropriate. Perform analyses to shape their position on policy and metric changes at a regional level.
Actively participate and take leadership roles in NERC and other inter-regional committees and activities. Apply technical knowledge to promote a proper balance between system reliability and the commercial interests in the applicable Interconnection zones. Guide industry developments and procedures to enhance the industry and Company interests.
