Summary

The Associate Communications Manager role (Internal Communications) serves as a conduit to a network of leaders and internal partners to help develop and deploy communication strategies and tactics that align with our brand and culture. This individual provides ongoing strategic counsel, message hierarchies, and serves as a change catalyst and campaign manager for business priorities with a variety of associate audiences in home office, field and distribution centers.

Responsibilities

Strategy

Serves as communications strategist for two-way communication program that builds associate understanding of business goals and strategies and how associates support achievement of those strategic goals.

Develops message framework and communication approach to support business agenda and specific, high-profile and complex initiatives.

Creates measurement strategies that allow consistent and timely monitoring of associate understanding and attitudes to identify and address gaps.

Counsel

Advises partners on communications and change management issues, including organizational sensitivities and nuances.

Helps develop communication skills of partners, providing communication tools, templates and training to better enable managers to be chief communicators.

Content/Execution

Translates strategies into action plans to inform, align and engage associates with regard to business priorities and culture shaping.

Aligns messages and themes to message framework. Writes and edits messages and materials with clarity of purpose and intent, and provides feedback to others related to optimal substance, usage and style.

Demonstrates ability to translate messages for a variety of audiences

Manages project timelines, logistics and execution.

Develops new and enhances existing processes and communication vehicles – publications, video, surveys, Intranet, executive presentations, etc. – to increase their effectiveness and impact.

Qualifications

5-8 years of experience with all aspects of internal communications, including speechwriting, presentation development, organizational announcements, crisis communications, and creating engaging and dynamic communication vehicles. Experience in engaging associates in and communicating about health and wellness benefits a plus.

Embodies and role models our values and helps actively shape and support a healthy, brand-right culture

Strategic thinker with exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Demonstrated ability in coaching leaders and partners regarding all aspects of communication and associate engagement

Excellent team orientation and partnering skills across functions

Understands the brand ethos and aligns communication and engagement strategies accordingly

In-house experience preferred

Experience with stores organization preferred

Education

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or equivalent experience required
