If you're committed to fostering a nurturing environment "Where Children Have Fun Learning" come and join our team!  Perkins' Playhouse & Learning Center Inc., is looking for the appropriate teacher that enjoys working with toddlers.  Someone that is creative, energetic and doesn't mind getting messy, or cleaning up the mess.  Perkins Playhouse will be the place for you.  This position is part-time.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
  • Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage, physical, social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
  • Maintain frequent communication with parents through daily informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Ensure a healthy classroom environment---including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
  • Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene and safety standards.
  • Work with children on potty training.
  • Take on ownership of the classroom by providing a warm and nurturing environment for all children.
  • Maintain a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous improvement.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Preference given to candidates with a CDA in Infant/Toddler or an associate in early childhood education or related field. A minimum of a high school diploma or GED, 18 years or older, one-year professional childcare experience and a strong understanding of child development.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, some computer skills, willingness to work as and lead a team.
  • Walk up and down stairs, stand and walk for an extended period of time throughout the day and be able to Lift 35-40 pounds.
  • Provide/ complete proof of education, a successful background check BCI & FBI, physical and shot record prior to the first day of employment.
