We are currently seeking an experienced NDE engineer to help coordinate and execute project tasks. Our clients rely on our NDE engineers to find solutions for new inspection challenges, or to evaluate their current NDE procedures/techniques and provide recommendations for faster, more accurate inspections. This posting is idea for someone with three to five years of technical experience with NDE methods. Ideally, the engineer will have hands-on expertise in NDE processes such as radiography testing (RT), ultrasonic testing (UT), eddy current testing (ECT), thermal/infrared testing (IR), penetrant testing (PT), magnetic particle testing (MT) and visual testing (VT). As well as knowledge with advanced volumetric NDE methods such as phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT), phased array eddy-current testing (PAET), PAUT & PAET apparatus design, computed tomography, digital radiographic testing, flaw recognition software development, and in-situ NDE process development for welding, cold (thermal) spray and additive manufacturing processes. Knowledge of inspection methodologies and associated field practices and standards used in the oil & gas, aerospace and automotive industries is a plus. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Engage with customers to explore and understand their NDE requirements Develop strong working relationships with EWI's customers to ensure satisfaction and develop new project opportunities Understanding of NDE methods and experience with NDE equipment, software, and hardware Lead research programs by collaborating with project managers, technicians, and engineers across other disciplines in the organization Actively seek-out various educational and training opportunities to keep current and demonstrate continuous growth Identifies and analyzes problems, gathers and sorts relevant data, and processes logically to determine preferred solution; applies knowledge and experience to the pursuit and execution of results that solve problems for the client Write clear, concise, and accurate technical project reports, presentations, or other documents for customers and/or internal audience Effectively delivers oral presentations meant to inform or persuade both internal (peer and manager) and external (client) audiences Offer input on the focus of EWI's IRD funding and may develop proposals that require approval Follow-up and interact with customers on reactive sales transactions. Initiate the reactive sales process without guidance Interact with customer via "inquiry" process to explore sales opportunities Minimum Requirements KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Established technical expertise in NDE processes such as RT, UT, ECT, IR, PT, MT, and VT ASNT Certified in one or more NDE methods Proficient with automated inspection systems Applied knowledge of non-contact measurement methods and metrology Skillful in publishing, developing, and delivering presentations Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility Exhibits sound
