Solution Engineer Principal

Job Description

Job Duties:

Collaborate with business partners, architects and engineers to design, develop, and install advanced software solutions while considering usage, architecture, functionality, and deployment. Communicate with business partners to understand system requirements. Serve as primary solution engineer and technical subject matter expert for Intelligent Process Solutions (IPS) Asset and Work Management system. Support integrations and ensure data is properly exchanged between IPS and other applications used within AEP. Gather requirements, design, develop and lead projects using Agile methodology. Train and monitor co-source teams to perform routine maintenance and support activities. Design and develop reports from IPS required for NERC compliance. Perform maintenance operations, including installing software on virtual Citrix servers. Maintain cloud solutions in accordance with best practices. Adhere to AEP’s Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for providing solutions and support. Adhere to AEP’s safety policies. Remote (where AEP has presence) Work from Home policy may apply.

Salary Range: 130,499.00 to 150,755.00

Requirements :

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field and 7 years of progressive experience in software development that includes the following:

  • Configuration and development of Intelligent Process Solutions (IPS) technical system and all of its administrative modules, including SmartGrid, Calculation Studio, Report Studio, MobApp, and WEB Services.

  • Using Microsoft SQL Management Studio for IPS database management and architecture.

  • Migrating IPS configuration changes from lower environments to Production using Redgate SQL Data Compare software.

  • Complex PL/SQL scripting, writing Stored Procedures, and query optimization.

  • C# programming.

  • Requirements gathering, designing, developing and leading projects using Agile (Scrum) methodology.

  • Applying ITIL processes of procedures for software development and support.

  • Managing tasks utilizing ServiceNow and Atlassian Jira.

  • Utility industry experience to demonstrate understanding of NERC regulatory requirements (FAC-008, PRC-005, PRC-027, etc.), protection and control (trip control circuitry, relay settings management), utility inspection and maintenance cycles, and utility asset types.

Candidates will be considered based on their qualifications and the candidate’s ability to work from an approved work location. Although the location is flexible, AEP does not have a presence in all states and localities.
