Senior Operator

Position Description

Job Summary

Essential Functions:

Operator:

• Ensure production floor is maintained in tidy and proper safe working condition at all times.

• Ensure PPE compliance standards upheld in production area.

• Follow standardized work processes and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment.

• Ensure manual and CNC equipment is set-up in safe and efficient manner.

• Inspect machine prior to starting production.

• Advanced proficiency of inspecting and using measuring tools (i.e. dial calipers, tape measures etc.) to indicate parts and verify dimensions of finished work piece.

• Inspect products to ensure consistent quality and adherence to customer specifications throughout the shift.

• Notify supervisor if individual notices any issue with equipment or product quality.

• Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

• Correctly report production in ERP system and ensure that the production orders have all the correct information and details.

• Notify material handler in advance of material needed and verify correct material is issued in accordance with schedule requirements.

• Setup production according to machine specifications, production order details and drawings. Notify supervisor and quality control if there are any deviations between orders and drawings.

• During operating down time this position assists with operating other equipment, plant housekeeping, maintenance, and warehouse duties.

• Understand companywide and departmental metrics and plans their work accordingly to meet those goals.

Production:

• Coordinate daily with supervisor to understand daily production requirements and agenda.

• Ensure the production floor follows safe start up and shut down of production equipment.

• Maintain overview of daily production goals.

• Provide guidance on custom cut and custom curve trims and extrusions; fulfill orders as needed.

• Responsible for ensuring all produced materials are cut to QC standards, making adjustments and modifications to equipment settings as needed.

• Maintain familiarity with equipment program settings and CNC stored jobs. Adding and removing, adjusting as needed. (CNC Horizontal Saw, CNC Press Brake, CNC Section roll ).

• Ensure all finished WIP material is labeled to internal standard with traveler sheet during and post-production.

• Ensure all surplus raw material is cleared from production zone after use by coordination with material handler.

• Maintain familiarity with curve tooling. Maintains tooling storage area and put away standards. Setup and breakdown of tooling used on production equipment. (Section Roll Tooling)

• Maintain equipment consumables, tooling and saw blades. (Cutting-Fluid reservoirs, blade integrity, blade changeovers, blade compartment weekly cleaning)

• Responsible for maintaining labeling standards for materials in production area.

• Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Main Purpose of Job:

In alignment with company vision, mission, values, and objectives, the Senior Operator is responsible for operating various machinery, With and without CNC Controls, meeting deadlines and providing direction to the production team. This position will also support the Manager with the day-to-day manufacturing operations by coordinating machine setup and troubleshooting, workloads, providing support to ensure that production targets are met and monitoring quality standards to meet the requirements of the customer.

Additional Description

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED

• 3+ years in a manufacturing setting

• Must be flexible and the ability to adopt to changes in the work place

• Capable of reading and reviewing pick slips and production order

• Must have excellent attendance.

• Motivate other associates and lead by example.

• Ability to read policies & procedure manuals.

• Read basic blueprint drawings

• Previous experience in using CNC Saw and Section Roll, manual metal saws, or relevant experience.

• Ability to safety operate/use hand and power tools.

• Ability to use measuring instruments (calipers, tape measures, etc.)

• Attention to detail.

• Multi-task & be flexible with assignments.

• Must have general computer skills in order to complete and/or update reports, orders etc.

• Forklift Certification

• License and certification to operate heavy machinery
