General Overview:

The Senior Graphic Designer produces graphic art and visual materials for print, video, web, and other digital media. The role works with the Director, Graphic Design and editors, communications personnel, and marketing staff to provide art direction and design workflows from creative vision to delivery, helping to craft the University’s message in striking, visually appealing ways.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver high-quality creative visual concepts for print, digital, and interactive media that effectively communicate the story of the University and its philanthropic priorities and impact. These materials include but are not limited to, brochures, newsletters, proposals, templates, web graphics, digital and print ads, event materials, etc.

• In collaboration with the Director, Graphic strategizes and conceptualizes creative approaches that result in innovative and compelling design executions. Serve as a creative problem solver who can anticipate and address obstacles.

• Maintain a unified look across all communications in accordance with University and campaign brand visual identity guidelines.

• Effectively manage projects and workload on various projects through completion, adhering to deadlines.

• Edit graphic images, animations, sound, text, and video.

• Support and assist with photo and video shoots.

• Publish design content on the web and in emails using basic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript libraries.

• Collaborate with the Production Manager to determine project scope, deadlines, and creative direction and to secure client revisions and approvals.

• Finalize all artwork and electronic files and prepare for final production; work closely with external vendors to ensure brand consistency and quality deliverables.

• Contribute to internal department initiatives, including updating and creating processes, documentation, tools, maintaining project libraries, etc.

• Keep abreast of emerging technologies in new media, particularly design programs

• Adhere to University procedures and safeguards the privacy of University assets and projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.

  • Minimum of 4 years of design and production experience is required. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.

  • Expertise in Adobe CC: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD, and Final Cut Pro.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Drive—Docs, Sheets, Slides.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

  • Ability to perform detailed work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
