OVERVIEW:

Role Responsibilities:

Internal Investigation Responsibilities (30%)

  • Detect, investigate, and document potential violations of law and company policy.

  • Conduct impartial and thorough investigations into potential violations and misconduct.

  • Resolve internal theft cases through evidence gathering and interviews for all assigned cases.

  • Oversee case development and disposition, effectively managing multiple case assignments.

  • Employ analytics, exception-based reporting, and open-source intelligence to initiate and support investigations.

  • Conduct information gathering (including surveillance) and investigative interviews according to company policy.

  • Work closely with the corporate investigations, Field LP and stores team to bring investigations to resolution.

  • Review or prepare investigative information to ensure there is sufficient and proper evidence to support subsequent employment and legal action and prepare formal written and oral recommendations to loss prevention/operations and safety, store operations, human resources, and legal leadership.

  • Partner, educate, and train field and DC teams on internal investigation practices.

External Investigation Responsibilities (30%)

  • Detect, investigate, and document potential violations of law and related to external theft, fraud, and organized retail crime.

  • Collaborate with Field LP and law enforcement for criminal prosecution, providing necessary support and evidence.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships and networks with key retailers and law enforcement partners through direct engagement and participation in organized retail crime associations (ORCAs).

  • Review and/or prepare investigative information to ensure there is sufficient and proper evidence to support subsequent legal action and prepare formal written and oral recommendations to loss prevention/operations and safety, store operations, human resources and legal leadership.

Managerial and Leadership Responsibilities (30%)

  • Lead, direct, and supervise investigative operations within the assigned area of responsibility, supporting store performance and coaching and developing teammates working in stores.

  • Train, educate, and build relationships with field and DC teams, key retailers, and law enforcement partners to enhance investigative practices and organized retail crime prevention.

  • Aid in the development of high potential leaders across the organization.

  • Actively participate in self-development for improvement in current role and for future growth opportunities.

  • Collaborate and partner as necessary with legal, human resources, store operations, and other business partners to ensure investigations are conducted effectively. Enhance awareness in stores regarding reporting procedures.

  • Play a crucial role in promoting awareness through regular meetings with field LP and store teams regarding proper reporting procedures, ensuring that all relevant parties understand and follow these procedures.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality when dealing with investigative matters, respecting the sensitivity and confidentiality of the role.

  • Provide support to the profit protection team by actively contributing to the safeguarding of company assets.

Administrative and other Duties (10%)

  • Document and review investigations recorded in the company case management system.

  • Manage investigations case error reporting and resolution.

  • Review and respond to assigned Ethics Hotline reports.

  • Testify in court as needed, effectively managing multiple cases.

  • Continuously support the needs of the business.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required with commensurate experience.

  • 5-7 years experience

  • At least three years of retail investigations or similar experience. Demonstrated analytical experience necessary. Demonstrated written and oral communications experience necessary.
