Description

We are in search of a Medical Coder t for a role based in Costa Mesa, California. This position plays a critical role within our team, focusing on the review of clinical documentation and diagnostic results, application of appropriate ICD-10-CM, and CPT-4 codes, and assisting with workflow changes and process improvement projects. This role is part of the healthcare industry and requires a strong understanding of coding principles, regulatory compliance, and billing processes.

Responsibilities:

• Review clinical documentation and diagnostic results to ensure accuracy and compliance

• Apply appropriate ICD-10-CM, and CPT-4 codes for billing, internal and external reporting, research, and regulatory compliance activities

• Resolve billing-related errors in a timely and efficient manner

• Assist with workflow changes and process improvement projects to enhance productivity and quality

• Ensure all ICD-10 codes are correctly captured and that physicians are correctly abstracted

• Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines and implement them in your work

• Possibly identify chargeable items for facility level for a given department

• Assign codes for diagnoses and treatment for ancillary outpatient encounters

• Adhere to the standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and all official coding guidelines

• Handle other duties as assigned within the scope of the role.

Requirements • Proficiency in Documentation and Procedures

• Familiarity with Policy and Research

• Ability to assure Quality in all tasks

• Knowledge of Medical Coverage procedures

• Understanding of Benefit Functions and Billing

• Ability to maintain Productivity in high pressure situations

• Experience in Clinical Trial Operations

• Knowledge in Coding, handling Queries and managing Reimbursements

• Ability to Diagnose Problems in workflows

• Familiarity with External Reporting and Regulatory Compliance

• Knowledge of 401k Administration

• Understanding of dental coverage procedures

• Familiarity with ICD-10 coding system

• Experience with Inpatient procedures

• Understanding of Indicators in a healthcare setting

• Knowledge of Licensure procedures

• Experience with Commissions

• Understanding of Ancillary services

• Ability to lead and manage Process Improvement Projects.
