Duties and Responsibilities: Checks and maintains equipment for proper
operation, as required by manufacturers. Rakes bar screens, adjusts return
and wasting rates, monitors DO, collects samples, performs many process
control calculations. May measure Suspended Solids, BOD, PH,
temperature, flow,C12, centrifuging of samples, settleometer, ect...
Helps maintain the Biosolids handling and disposal program. Responds to and
identifies Treatment Plan alarm conditions and failures. Maintains plant
ground, buildings, vehicles, and tools. Performs all types of
preventative maintenance. Maintains collection system, including life
stations. Clears plugs, cleans lines, and repairs manholes. Applies
pesticide to sewer lines and directed. Performs T.V. sewer inspections.
Performs other duties as requested and assigned.
Skills: A working knowledge of or ability for mechanical; analytical;
laboratory; mathematical; chemistry; biology; interpersonal and public
relation
Mental Demands: Routine duties; minor decision making; working knowledge
of Wastewater treatment plant operations; testing procedures; maintenance
and safety.
Physical Demands: Good physical health and condition; standing;
stooping; bending; kneeling; lifting; climbing dexterity and
manipulating, ect.
Experience/training: High School Diploma or G.E.D
Working Conditions: Exposure to inclement weather, sewage and an
unsanitary environment, chlorine, sulfur dioxide, pesticides, noise,
stressful situations, and conditions. Emergency on call and call outs 24/7.
Contacts: All city departments, public, contractors, vendors, state
& federal agency staff and suppliers.
Special Requirements: Valid Colorado driver's license. A minimum of a
Class "B" CDL with tanker endorsement must be obtained within 6 months of
employment; and a personal telephone. Requires a Colorado Class "A"
Wastewater and a Class "3" Collection Operator's Certification within
five years of the date of hire. Continuing education to maintain
certifications and improve skills.
