POSITION SUMMARY The Revenue Cycle Manager, in conjunction with the Revenue Cycle Director, assumes responsibility for the direct supervision of the Business Office & Health Information Management Department employees. Responsible for carrying out management responsibilities in accordance with organization policies and applicable laws and regulations. Responsibilities include staffing, hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work; monitoring performance and productivity; addressing patient, employee and visitor complaints and resolving problems. The manager will be expected to demonstrate exceptional customer service skills and to create an environment for staff that promotes positive interactions with all internal and external customers. This position will develop and implement criteria, policies and procedures related to the Business Office and Health Information Management department. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Minimum of 2 year Associates Degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred. Prior experience in a health care Business Office/HIM preferred. Prior supervisory experience required. Requires knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint along with basic computer skills. Special Skills and Aptitudes: Ability to deal with the public and answer questions professionally Experience and knowledge of Business Office and Health Information Must possess strong leadership, communication and problem solving skills Effective interpersonal relationship skills including good listening and communication skills Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of settings and with a wide variety of people and different organization levels Ability to effectively supervise employees Ability to handle confidential information discreetly and appropriately Ability to develop and implement plans for department operations Ability to adapt resources to meet the needs of the situation Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Assume responsibilities as directed by the Revenue Cycle Director. Supervise Business Office and Health Information Management employees. Assist with employee timecards for payroll submission. Assess work volumes and coordinate adequate staffing. Responsible for appropriate, efficient and economical use and scheduling of staff including overtime approval. Develop and implement staffing plan for shift based on patient acuity, patient census and available staff. Assign, supervise, observe and document productivity and performance of staff. Coordinate and lead staff huddles and/or teams to share information, problem-solve, and evaluate the impact of services. Serve as a resource to staff for solving problems. Provide support, guidance, and ongoing and timely feedback to staff to include performance appraisals. Provide ongoing communication with staff and ancillary departments. Provide for immediate follow-up, documentation and communication of incidents to appropriate manager and director. Act as a resource in identifying and/or solving administrative/operational problems. Anticipate actual/potential problems that may occur and set priorities accordingly. Assist staff to interpret change in a positive manner. Assist in assuring workflows follow state and federal regulations and standards established by accrediting agencies. Assure department work complies with Infection Control, Safety and CRMC's Policies and Procedures. Demonstrate Standards of Excellence when other duties are assigned.
