Amazon Production Manager, Live Sports Production in Culver City, California

Come and be a part of Amazon's dynamic Live Sports Production Team! We are looking for an experienced Production Manager with a focus in crewing, to support live event production in multiple sports categories.

The Production Operations team is responsible for delivering high quality event productions on all global live sports properties to customers worldwide, across all Prime Video product lines and devices. We also support our productions through process improvements, scalability, and various initiatives. We work on designing solutions (tools and mechanisms) to manage and support productions globally so our team can work more efficiently and continue to scale.

Key job responsibilities

This role requires in-depth knowledge of remote and event production as the Production Manager (PM) will be responsible for managing the crewing aspects (above-the-line and below-the-line) and travel of all event production personnel across multiple sports properties. The PM will be the primary liaison to our Production Service Providers (PSP) ensuring the hiring, scheduling, and deployment (travel requirements), of crew meets our production standards.

The Production Manager will work in lockstep with Production Operations Managers (POM) to manage the day-to-day execution of each assigned sports property, ensuring the project lifecycle is on track. Working with the POMs you will be responsible for assessing cost standards and maintaining show budgets. You will work closely with Coordinating Producers and production liaisons to recruit, hire and negotiate key personnel with PSPs to build crews for live events (both in-game and shoulder programming). You will use your technical experience and understanding of broadcast functions and have an active role in selecting and scheduling key personnel and determining the technical needs for production events. You will implement systems and tools for tracking crew personnel, create standardized rate cards, maintain an event personnel list repository, and agreement terms across all properties and personnel. You will prepare and communicate event production information to the team, by creating and distributing production books and call sheets, working with internal and external partners to ensure accurate information sharing for all live events. In addition, the Production Manager will manage production crew, talent, travel and event logistics when on-site at remote events.

The successful candidate is a self-starter and possesses the ability to complete high volumes of tasks and projects quickly with autonomy; and react with appropriate urgency to situations and events that require immediate attention. The candidate has a proven track record taking on end-to-end ownership, and is effective at delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment. The candidate will be able to issue spot and escalate matters that have risk impact.

The candidate should have experience in production and/or operational planning, including logistical planning related to event production with a focus in crewing and travel. Robust knowledge of sports broadcast industry rates and market rules across the US are required. Experience launching, operating, managing, and delivering results in a live sports production management role. Proven track record working with production vendors and broadcast media partners; experience with contracts and negotiating with third party vendors and broadcast or remote production experience overseeing 100+ personnel on high profile/large-scale events.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of budgeting, scheduling and cost reporting experience

  • 3+ years of producer, production manager or line producer experience

  • 3+ years of overseeing and managing projects and deadlines experience

  • In-depth experience and knowledge on procurement of technical and broadcast equipment to execute event production

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with a variety of digital media workflows and post production

  • Experience reviewing and interpreting production service agreements, statements of work, and commercial contracts

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $76,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $163,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
