The on-device machine learning platform team in the machine learning platforms and technologies group is looking for an outstanding manager to join our group! You will be leading engineers who develop frameworks and tools, passionate about the shipping great APIs to our developers. Our group plays a key role in supporting numerous ML-powered experiences at Apple. We are looking for a leader with extraordinary interpersonal skills who can work closely with software engineering partners to help drive and craft Apple’s product roadmap. Familiarity with the ML model development cycle is helpful, as is understanding performance in the context of ML workloads.

Key Qualifications

• Strong and validated management experience with knowledge of ML development.

• Creative, collaborative, and product-focused

• Excellent communication skills

• Passion for clean software architectures, intuitive UX design, and high-performance extensible software

• Experience crafting, building, and maintaining mission-critical web services or tools

• Proficiency in Python and C++ Experience with ML performance

• Understanding of machine learning fundamentals

• Minimum three years of experience managing a team of engineers

• Familiarity with Machine Learning Compiler Technologies such as LLVM/MLIR is plus

Description

You’ll be leading a team of engineers who build and maintain CoreML, Apple's on device ML framework that supports numerous ML-powered experiences on Apple devices. You’ll work with a wide variety of cross-functional partners ranging up and down the SW stack as you push the state-of-the-art in terms of exposing the details of ML inference execution and allowing ML developers to get the best performance out of Apple Silicon. Because this product is already central to many user experiences at Apple, you’ll be able to engage with and drive additional efforts related to 1st and 3rd party developers. You will help guide future of ML hardware and software investments at Apple.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning or a related field.

Pay & Benefits

• At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $183,400.00 and $316,900.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
