Description

We’re seeking a dedicated MacOS engineer to streamline and deliver Mac demo content to Apple stores worldwide. You’ll be collaborating with Apple Retail, Software Engineering, and IS&T organizations to influence technical roadmaps, troubleshoot performance, capacity, and system limitations with QA teams, and implement enhancements or new architecture. Successful candidates are humble, curious, creative, tenacious, organized, have clarity of thought and can lead through ambiguity - Build MacOS demo content packages for deployment to Retail stores - Create ad hoc scripts where needed. Provide requirements and iterate on architecture in partnership with engineering team, to develop, implement and test extensible systems for loading of content, settings, configurations and apps onto demo devices, across multiple locales at scale - Serve as Tier 3/4 escalation point for MacOS Digital Experience QA. Triage, and debug issues, ensuring root cause analysis and resolution - Device provisioning via MDM/JAMF. Support device provisioning for demo devices, over the air. Ensure devices are enrolled and configured correctly and securely. Partner with security teams to ensure security model of demo devices is sound and effective - Perform Apple operating system research, document and communicate findings back to engineering, to ensure seamless demo deployments in stores. Implement new technologies and features for the latest demo experiences

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience working on MacOS platform as a tooling engineer, system administrator, including troubleshooting and triaging Mac operating systems

  • Extensive experience with Mobile Device Management frameworks (JAMF preferred), deploying applications, configurations via packages over MDM

  • Demonstrated ability to ensure seamless device provisioning, configuration and system interoperability

  • Expert knowledge of UNIX/ LINUX environments and setup tools (ssh, telnet, rsync, etc), critical for system management and troubleshooting

  • Demonstrated proficiency in advanced Bash and Python

  • Able to navigate through functional and object-oriented programming languages, particularly Python, Swift

  • Understanding of integrated testing frameworks such as XCTest and pyTest

  • Experience with QA, specifically with developing testing strategies, frameworks and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products

  • Ability to collaborate with various cross-functional teams and negotiate / document requirements for product roadmaps

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $207,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
