As a Sr. Sourcing & Procurement Consultant (IT) you will be challenged to manage strategic sourcing and contracting efforts across UnitedHealth Group in a rapidly changing IT Software/Services category. This role will focus primarily on business process applications (such as, virtual care technology, care coordination platforms, and customer relationship management software), plus other indirect technology commodities as assigned. A successful candidate will continue to build their skills and apply their experience in procurement, inclusive of pricing analysis, risk management, and cross-functional relationship management, to serve their stakeholders. The ideal candidate should be resourceful, demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks, and successfully deliver on initiatives that will often have a broad and meaningful impact.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Sr. Sourcing & Procurement Consultant, Sourcing & Procurement (IT) will be expected to:

  • Develop and support technology strategies for Hardware, Software Licensing and Maintenance

  • Execute on strategies by drafting commercial agreements, benchmarking rates, negotiating contract terms and conditions (leveraging UnitedHealth Group’s terms and internal subject matter experts)

  • Execute and participate in strategic sourcing initiatives (e.g., RFPs, renegotiations, eSourcing) across various business segments, which leverage total supplier spend; make appropriate recommendations and execute the same

  • Understand and analyze assigned commodities, including pricing and contracting strategies; ensure alignment to enterprise sourcing and contracting efforts with technology vendors and applicable stakeholder/commodity strategies

  • Develop relationships with applicable stakeholders across UnitedHealth Group to drive support for the procurement value proposition and initiatives

  • Evaluate supplier and/or contract consolidation opportunities including, but not limited to, change management strategies to support the current supply chain, procurement programs, and overall sourcing and contracting strategy

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience of negotiating contracts, developing category strategies, and leading competitive events

  • Understanding of hosted services, software licensing and maintenance

  • Well versed in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and Power Point

  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a high demand multi-tasking environment

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully navigate obstacles from a customer-centric perspective, using facts and thought-through strategy

  • Proven solid organizational, project management and communication (written and verbal) skills

  • Proven solid analytical skills (effectively supports decisions on factual data and analysis) and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience within IT Software or Hardware categories, including licensing and maintenance

  • Knowledge of Ariba e-Procurement tools; previous experience utilizing procure-to-pay and contracting modules (or similar procurement systems)

  • Proven ability to concisely articulate positions and garner support quickly from various levels of business and procurement leadership

If located near Minnetonka, MN, you will be asked to perform this role in an office setting on average of 3 days per week.

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
