Job Description

ORGANIZATION AND OVERSIGHT - COMPLIANCE AND PRIVACY PROGRAMS: Oversee, lead and administer the THPG Compliance and Privacy Programs in alignment with THR policies. Report on a regular basis to the THR Chief Compliance Officer and the THPG Board on program effectiveness including progress and efforts to reduce vulnerability to fraud, waste and abuse. Continually improve THPG programs in light of organization needs and consistent with laws and regulations that impact THPG business operations. Develop and oversee THPG annual compliance/privacy work plan. Implement written policies, procedures an standards of conduct. Establish and chair THPG Compliance and Privacy Committees.

COMPLIANCE/PRIVACY AUDITS AND MONITORING: Develop, coordinate and oversee annual internal compliance review and monitoring work plan including processes and controls to provide compliance with legal requirements and THPG standards. Coordinate external audits such as recovery audit contractors for governmental agencies and/or commercial payer audits. Analyze data, implement benchmarking and dashboards for key compliance and privacy risk areas.

COMPLIANCE/PRIVACY PROGRAM COMMUNICATION AND TRAINING: Develop and coordinate multifaceted educational and training programs for THPG employees that focus on the elements of the compliance and HIPAA privacy programs and seek to ensure that employees and management are knowledgeable of and comply with federal and state laws and regulations including Medicare/Medicaid program requirements. Lead and/or work with appropriate resources to ensure proactive THPG provider education is provided in response to identified risk areas such as coding, billing, documentation and HIPAA privacy /information security requirements. Develop effective lines of communication and awareness within THPG of the Compliance and Privacy Programs.

INVESTIGATE AND RESOLVE QUESTIONS/CONCERNS: Facilitate internal reporting processes including the THR Compliance Helpline and open lines of communication for reporting of questions or concerns by employees, contractors, patients or others. Serve as an internal subject matter resource to THPG management and key operations personnel regarding compliance and privacy questions. Serve as the key contact in responding to government investigations or queries such as Office of Civil Rights (Privacy), Office of Inspector General or other governmental agencies. Respond promptly to detected offenses, develop corrective action and report finding to System Compliance leadership and the appropriate stakeholders. Make reports to governmental agencies when appropriate via established channels.

Education

Bachelor's Degree Required

Master's Degree Preferred

J.D. Preferred

Experience

8 Years Experience in compliance program management, including compliance with federal and state regulations related to coding, documentation, billing practices, Medicare/Medicaid and privacy. Experience to also include experience working with regulatory agencies and developing practices to identity and evaluate areas of risk and respond to potential violations of regulations and policies. Required

Supervisory/management experience and prior physician practice compliance program experience is Required

People Management Experience Strongly Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

CHC - Certified in Healthcare Compliance Required

Other compliance certifications such as CPCO - Certified Professional Compliance Officer will be considered. Upon Hire

Skills

Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and healthcare industry regulatory requirements applicable to a large multi-specialty physician organization. Knowledge of revenue cycle. Skilled in continuous improvement approaches, change management and ability to manage and lead projects at all levels. Excellent written and verbal skills. Ability to manage conflict and facilitate resolutions. Ability to effectively communicate, work and collaborate with physician Leadership, practice management, revenue cycle, finance and operations. Demonstrate sound judgment and critical thinking skills.
