Job Summary:

The Senior Public Relations Manager will manage public relations for the Americas Region and its business units and brands, including Trane, American Standard, and Thermo King. This leader will develop and execute strategies to build and protect our brands’ reputations and enhance their positions in the market. This role will oversee public relations initiatives in the Americas Region and contribute to thought leadership programs, crisis and issues communications, and media measurement. Reporting to the Director, Public Relations, this role will have accountability to both the Enterprise Public Relations team as well as the Americas Regional Marketing team. This role will partner closely with communications, marketing, and other functional leaders to align public relations strategy with key brand and business unit strategies and objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all PR resources for the Americas Region business, including internal direct reports and external agency resources, to effectively develop and deliver PR strategies and programs to drive visibility and support our businesses in the Americas Region.

  • Partner with the enterprise Communications, Marketing, and Public Engagement team, the Americas Region Marketing teams, business unit communications leaders, and internal stakeholders to drive public relations and media engagement strategies and contribute to thought leadership programs to position company and spokespeople through media opportunities and speaking engagements to elevate and amplify business news and drive an integrated business and enterprise public relations strategy.

  • Manage and direct work of outside PR agencies including development of plans, key performance indicators, and management of results through a variety of channels, including media relations.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key reporters and media outlets. Prepare key executive spokespeople, partner on message development and delivery and provide media training and coaching as appropriate. Manage media inquiries and interview requests.

  • Contribute to communications planning, message development and execution for issues, crises, and strategic transactions, working with other communications teams and functional and business leaders as appropriate to manage reputation risk.

  • Create, edit and oversee content for press releases, bylined articles, speaking opportunities, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, or related field.

  • 10+ years of professional experience in communications/public relations, preferably for both B2C and B2B brands.

  • Proven track record of results in developing successful public relations programs and fostering collaboration in a global corporate environment.

  • Experience developing relationships with reporters and media outlets, pitching news stories/ideas, managing media inquiries and serving as a media spokesperson.

  • Ability to manage internal and external resources, agencies, and budgets.

  • Strong partnering, consulting, collaboration, and influencing skills with the ability to build and navigate relationships at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to build diverse, inclusive, and engaged teams, coach for performance and develop talent.

  • Effective balance of strategy and execution with the ability to drive change and achieve business results.

  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to a wide range of audiences.

  • Proficiency in word processing/computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc)

  • Balanced leader with creative and operational mindset. Strong organizational skills and ability to meet strict deadlines.

  • Excellent analytical, time-management, and project management skills with ability to supervise multiple projects.

  • Strong relationship building skills with the ability to influence, inspire, and collaborate across a variety of internal functions and external partners.

  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects at once.

  • Ability to think critically, and establish strategic plans aligned to business objectives.

  • Results-oriented, self-driven & internally motivated.

Key Competencies:

  • Public Relations strategy development, execution, and agency management for both B2B and B2C brands/businesses.

  • Strong leadership skills and business acumen with an ability to manage both internal and external resources and an ability to translate business objectives into actionable PR strategies.

  • High level of operational effectiveness, including prioritization aligned with business objectives and capacity management.

  • Experience working collaboratively in a matrixed organizational structure with the ability to balance the needs of a wide variety of partners and stakeholders.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.

Base Compensation Range is $150,000 to $205,000

Additional Compensation: Total compensation for this role also will include an incentive plan.
