Job Title: Manager, Community Engagement

Job Status: Full-time

Job Summary: Under general supervision, the Manager of Community Engagement uses specialized knowledge in the area of relationship development to grow and cultivate community connections that encourage community engagement. Responsible for implementing efforts to improve relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, this includes leading marketing efforts to better engage and inform the public about organizational strategies, events, initiatives and campaigns, community service efforts, recruiting and retaining volunteers for specific initiatives, building strategic partnerships and coordinating special events and campaigns.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with Executive Management to develop and lead a comprehensive strategy for community engagement and partnerships

  • Build and maintain partnerships with other nonprofit organizations in the Metro Detroit area that have related missions

  • Represent ACCESS at community events and committees

  • Provide education about ACCESS programming in the community

  • Create opportunities for partnering with community groups and organization such as service projects

  • Find and create opportunities to educate the public about ACCESS by providing information at strategic events and meetings

  • Lead special civic engagement campaigns locally

  • Lead efforts to increase integration between departments on specific initiatives

  • Create, develop and implement community fundraising opportunities

  • Recruit, train, mobilize and manage specifically assigned volunteers and community members

  • Collaborate and maintain relationships with community stakeholders

  • Provide marketing and public relations guidance to the Communications team

  • Be engaged and visible at community events that are in alignment with the ACCESS mission

  • Lead and implement ACCESS ACTS (Active Community Teen Service)

  • Help plan, coordinate, fundraise and recruit for ACCESS- special events (annual dinner, domestic violence, holiday party, etc.)

  • Assist in engaging and recruiting college students and recent graduates for ACCESS job opportunities

  • Operate standard office equipment and use required software applications

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Fundraising best practices, standards and ethics

  • Greater understanding of the mission and vision of ACCESS in the communities

  • Greater desire of the community to support the organization financially

  • Empowerment of local community to effect change

Skill in:

  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications for program area and other applications, including Microsoft Office

Ability to:

  • Manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment

  • Negotiate with internal and external groups and build constructive, effective relationships needed to successfully meet objectives

  • Be mature, professional and outgoing

  • Maintain relationships

  • Facilitate meetings, ensuring that all viewpoints, ideas and problems are addressed

  • Incite enthusiasm and influence, motivate and persuade others to achieve desired outcomes

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

    Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum Degree Required:

  • Bachelor-s degree

  • Required Disciplines:

  • Business, Economics, Finance or related field

    and

  • At least 2-3 years of successful fundraising experience working in a non-profit organization or any equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training approved by Human Resources

    Working Conditions:

Hours: Normal business hours, some additional hours may be required

Travel Required: Local and in-state travel, up to 50%

Working Environment: Climate controlled office
