Requisition Summary
Do you want to help shape Peterbilt’s future electric powered vehicles?
The Zero Emissions Design team is looking for a Battery Electric Vehicle Engineer with interest in supporting innovative design development. Duties involve interface with the PACCAR Technical Center, PACCAR Vehicle Electric Powertrain Team, Product Planning, Marketing & Sales, Management and Suppliers to evaluate customer requirements and definition of vehicle level targets that support launching the next generation of industry leading trucks.
Scope of work includes working on new development programs, analysis of potential new product designs, employing innovative skills to mature ideas from concepts, problem resolution, and other engineering duties supporting various aspects of product development.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
Ability to manage deliverables across multiple projects, providing guidance on the application of specific tools and or processes.
Work in a collaborative small-team environment to explore and evaluate advanced vehicle technologies.
Provide guidance and coaching to young engineers.
Maintain DFMEA and DVP tasks and deliverables.
Collaborate with multiple suppliers to aid successful integration and validation of electric powertrain components into PACCAR trucks
Leverage internal product development processes and Six Sigma skills to ensure high quality results, manage progress and report updates.
Manage supplier activities related to design and manufacture of components.
Work closely with multiple PACCAR divisions.
Manage multiple priorities and goals simultaneously.
Support pilot builds at PACCAR truck factories.
Travel up to 10% may be required.
Skills / Competencies
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering required
Master’s degree in business or engineering and PE License (Professional Engineer) are preferred
4+ years of experience in related field
Experience leading engineering projects
DFSS green belt desired
Knowledge and experience with Battery Electric Powertrain integration desired
Basic knowledge of Pro/E or other similar solid modeling software
Familiarity with project management methods and tools
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks, adaptability to change, self-starter
Demonstrated effective communication skills (verbal/written)
Applying standard engineering techniques with minimal supervision
Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and related computer software
