What you will do here:

As an Associate Data Scientist within the Cengage Research Team, you help connect internal and third-party data to develop and drive research and craft actionable insights. You will help develop and improve the pipeline of data and have a leadership role managing data, building analysis, reports, and dashboards. Your work is at the heart of the data and analytics operations and cross business units and product categories to provide transformational market-level understanding.

These responsibilities will include:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor sophisticated insights and analytical solutions to business questions using a variety of analytical approaches and methodologies in cooperation with Customer Insights Researchers.

  • Investigate and apply artificial intelligence solutions for data management, analysis, and reporting.

  • Help centralize data in appropriate data warehouse and collaborate with architecture and technology teams to track and enhance data flows and reporting.

  • Monitor data / information management processes to ensure data quality and consistency in support of research and business operations. This includes acquiring new data sources and performing data discovery to understand data values and relationships.

  • Ensure proper escalation, prioritization, and remediation of data quality issues.

  • Collaborate with researchers, analysts, and key stakeholders to identify innovative approaches and data sources.

  • Explore and apply new data mining and data visualization tools to conduct ad-hoc analysis as required.

Skills you will need here:

  • 1-3 years of relevant work and educational experience in data management, operations, analytics, research, or data security

  • Bachelor’s degree required in fields such as computer programming, statistics, mathematics, analytics, econometrics, data science, information management, or management information systems or relevant related fields of study

  • 1-2 years of experience in coding and data mining/analysis tools and business intelligence tools with prioritization for candidates with experience using Power BI, SQL, and R or Python.

  • Ability to quickly understand, interpret, and apply large scale databases and companywide enterprise systems

  • Able to self-manage progress against achievements and results with a high degree of accountability and personal responsibility

  • Strong bias for action

  • Strong writing and verbal presentation skills; experience preparing and communicating information and recommendations to a diverse and often senior audience; ability to discuss findings crafted for specific audiences (both technical and non-technical)

  • Comfort with and eagerness to seek ambiguous problems

  • Passionate about collaboration and comfortable working with multiple teams on projects with different completion timelines

  • Ability to work run projects efficiently and maintain high quality standards

  • Experience in education technology is desirable but not required

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location. Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.

$52,000.00 - $83,200.00 USD
