Job Title: Associate Director of Development
FLSA Status: Full Time - exempt
Reports to: Director of Development

Supervises: Director of Major Gifts, Corporate Relations Director,
Director of Community Engagement, and Development, Special Events &
Volunteer Manager

Rate of Pay: $125,000/year
Closing Date: 10/18/23

Function:
Reporting directly to the Divisional Director of Development, the Associate
Director of Development will be a key member of the leadership team working in
close partnership with Salvation Army officers, team lead peers,
development committees and Advisory Board/Council members. He/she will
provide leadership for day-to-day operations and management of development
department teams, special projects and fundraising programs. He/she will
sustain a productive and results-oriented development environment,
emphasizing teamwork, accountability, and donor-centered systems.
He/she will manage and nurture a strong team of development professionals,
assist with recruitment, management, development, and retention of
professional and support staff. He/she will build and develop effective
working relationships between the development team and other departments
within the organization. In addition, the Associate Director of Development
will take initiative to position The Salvation Army as a cause worth
supporting
Working with the Divisional Director of Development, the Associate Director
of Development will manage a portfolio of top prospects and major donors while
developing long-term meaningful and productive relationships to maximize
support for The Salvation Army.
Duties and Responsibilities:
In conjunction with the Divisional Director of Development, develop
fundraising budgets and campaign plans for the fiscal year and ensure budgeted
income goals are met. Monitor team's progress toward achieving financial
goals.
Manage a caseload of up to 100 high level donors. This includes setting an
annual fundraising goal for each donor, maintaining impactful,
personalized communications with the donor throughout the year, making at
least one annual gift request of each donor with the ultimate purpose of
growing the relationship and donor's commitment to the organization's mission.
Evaluate and recommend any necessary revisions to donor processing systems.
Implement a proactive strategic stewardship process for all donors from point
of entry.
In collaboration with the Divisional Director of Development and the
Communications Team, develop and implement a comprehensive and integrated
direct marketing solicitation strategies to secure individual income through
direct marketing and social media communications.
Work with the Communications Team, the Development and Special Events
Manager, and event committees to develop strategies for philanthropic
support with The Salvation Army and for creation of targeted collateral.
Collaborate with the Divisional Director of Development on the supervision and
support of approved fundraising campaigns and feasibility studies in the
division. Work with the campaign/unit to ensure compliance with all THQ
recording and reporting requirements to nsure successful campaigns.
Assist units in preparing presentation material to donors, companies, and
foundations.
Assist with training officers and staff on fundraising systems, data
management process and development best practices.
Partner with officers and staff to help build and train Advisory
Boards/Councils throughout the Division to maximize their community
engagement and mission impact.
Assist units in resolving donor issues.
Work with the Divisional Development Director to identify the internal
management systems and goals of the Development Department and individual
Development Department staff. Assist the Divisional Director of Development in
establishing the annual plan and assist in monitoring and evaluating goal
achievement.
Provide leadership and supervision to the Development Team in the absence of
the Director. Supervise existing and new projects and day to day duties,
serve as a point of contact, handle necessary disciplinary issues, and
approve timecards.
Manage internal day-to-day development operational functions.
Performs other duties as required.
Qualification and Education Requirements:
Minimum BA or BS degree, preferably in relevant field such as Business or
Sales or Marketing, and a minimum of five years to relevant professional
experience.
Direct fundraising experience for a not-for-profit organization, with a
successful track record in corporate fund raising, is preferred
Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and
verbal), able to relate effectively and professionally to executives and
leaders in the community as well as with key Salvation Army stakeholders...
