Responsibilities and Expectations:
We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Industrial
Shop Shipping and Receiving Specialist. The ideal candidate will be
responsible for managing all incoming and outgoing shipments in our industrial
shop environment. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention
to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Receive incoming shipments, verifying the accuracy of items received against
packing lists or purchase orders.
Arrange outgoing shipments, including negotiating rates, tracking carrier
performance.
Inspect incoming materials for damage or defects and report any discrepancies
to the appropriate personnel.
Label, sort, and distribute incoming materials to the designated storage
areas within the shop.
Prepare outgoing shipments, including packing, labeling, and
coordinating with carriers for pickup.
Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing shipments, including
tracking numbers, dates, and quantities.
Coordinate with internal departments to ensure timely delivery of materials
for production schedules.
Assist in inventory management by conducting regular cycle counts and
reconciling discrepancies.
Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks to move
materials within the shop.
Maintain a clean and organized shipping and receiving area, adhering to
safety guidelines and best practices.
Communicate effectively with vendors, carriers, and internal stakeholders
to resolve any shipping or receiving issues.
Qualifications and Competencies:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Proven experience in a shipping and receiving role, preferably in an
industrial or manufacturing environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to lift and move heavy objects, up to 40 pounds.
Experience operating material handling equipment such as forklifts or pallet
jacks (certification preferred).
Proficiency in basic computer skills, including MS Office applications and
shipping software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices related to shipping and
receiving activities.
Flexibility to work occasional overtime or weekends as needed.
