Overview
A Principal Chemistry Sales Development Representative (SDR) identifies,
validates, qualifies and closes new Waters consumables opportunities within
their territory for the field Chemistry Account Managers to pursue. The
Principal Chemistry SDR will use phone, voicemail, email and social media
to reach contacts and develop relationships. The role also includes
qualification of market demand generation from campaigns and events. The
Waters chemistry consumable line includes HPLC, UPLC, LC/MS and SFC
columns and sample prep products, standards, vials and other consumables.
The products are used in a wide variety of markets, including life
science, pharmaceutical, food and environmental and chemical materials.The
Principal Chemistry SDR is a subject matter expert on the chromatography
consumable products and these markets. The Principal Chemistry Sales
Development Representative will work on projects with marketing and the
business segment that require advanced problem solving skills.The Principal
Chemistry Sales Development Representative will adapt to a dynamic and
changing environment, learning quickly for product launches and drawing
conclusions using a variety of sales tools (including SalesForce, Power BI
and Analysis in Excel). The Principal Chemistry Sales Development
Representative will work with different teams to develop a sales methodology
to address industry/vertical-wide needs and challenges, while being
mindful of the impacts on the assigned territory.
As a Principal Chemistry Sales Development Representative, you would be part
of the Waters Sales business, and selling products used by people worldwide
for specialty measurements and scientific analyses.
The foundation of the Chemistry Sales Development Representative role is to
develop a keen understanding of the customers' needs and challenges,
crafting solutions with lasting and significant business impact.
The desired candidate is a self starter and requires minimal direction in
developing new business while working in concert with their assigned account
managers, specialists and marketing colleagues to build and advance the top
of the sales funnel.
The territory will cover parts of the US and/or Canada.
Responsibilities
Prospecting new customers across the region
Follow up on market generated demand from campaigns and events
Up and cross sell existing customers
Identifying customer business problems and translating them into solutions
while promoting the Waters Chemistry portfolio
Working closely with other groups at Waters (e.g., Instrument Sales,
Chemistry Sales, Inside Inbound Sales, Inside Instrument Sales, Customer
Service, Informatics, etc.)
Using a CRM system daily to ensure vital record keeping, compliance and
accurate forecasting
Working with local teams and incorporating initiatives to drive the adoption
of new products to new and existing accounts and contacts
Using tools (includes making connections with customers on LinkedIn) to
both prospect and locate and contact KOLs in different specialized markets
Working with our authority teams in sales and marketing
Providing feedback to the marketing team to build business development
programs
Contributing to team success by working closely with your field chemistry
sales team and filling the sales pipeline
Increase order efficiency through the education of customers to place orders
through Waters ecommerce platform
Training on updated policies and new programs and tools
Responding to leads for new and current customers
Qualifications
Minimum of BS/BA in chemistry or a related subject area
4+years of laboratory and/or sales experience is preferred
Eager to learn
Committed and dedicated for results
Have e cellent organization/planning/time management skills
Experienced with Microsoft Office packages
Teammate with good communication/ social skills
Creative use of initiative and tenacity to contact new customers
Understanding the scientific workflow of and specialty techniques for
(U)HPLC and/or LC/MS methods is highly desirable
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Mature disposition, positive attitude, and a strong sense of commitment
Adaptive to a dynamic and changing environment, such as with product
launches and drawing conclusions using a variety of sales tools (including
Salesforce, Power BI and Analysis in Excel)
