DEA is adding a Junior CAD Designer to its Spokane, Salt Lake City, or
Denver Bridges and Structures Groups. The successful candidate will work with
a team of designers and engineers and be responsible for providing CAD
drafting during the planning, design, and construction of various
transportation structure types (bridges, box culverts, tunnels,
retaining walls, overhead sign structures, and hydraulic structures).
Materials typically consist of reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete,
and steel. The successful candidate will assist by demonstrating leadership
and initiative to provide sheet lists, detailing estimates, and complete
sets of working drawings for large and small projects. Experience with
Department of Transportation (DOT) CAD standards is preferred,
particularly in Colorado, Idaho, Utah, and Washington. Additional DOT
CAD experience in California and Oregon is also considered valuable for this

Other duties include:
Initiate the production of plan sets to include standard drawings and
engineering details Perform research, as required, to ensure the use of
the most recent standard drawings as issued by DOTs and municipalities
Perform red-line changes to contract drawings
Set up and maintain standard drawing files and adhere to company drafting
standards applicable to each project
Manage the execution of work assignments within an allocated budget
Review all work for completeness and accuracy and adhere to schedule and
quality expectations established by contract and industry standards
Required Qualifications:
Associate degree in drafting and design technology or related field
0 to 5 years of experience in transportation structure CAD drafting/design
Desire and willingness to work in a team-based environment that involves
coordination with staff in multiple design disciplines and remote offices
Good communication skills, both verbal and written
Organized, detail-oriented, and working well under tight deadlines
Proficient in Microstation V8i and OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
Experience with ProjectWise Explorer
Understanding of civil design and survey
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with structural drafting using Revit
Experience with AutoCAD and C3D 2019
Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
Familiarity with InRoads V8i and GIS
Experience with DOT standards in Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Washington,
California, and Oregon
