Xcel Energy Manager - Cyber Security Program in Denver, Colorado

Position Summary

Responsible for the program management and company-wide oversight of cybersecurity projects and programs. Provides leadership and strategic direction for planning, executing, and delivering multiple projects within defined timelines and budget constraints. Requires coordinating and driving initiatives through relationship building and influence. Ensures adherence to program management methodologies and best practices while evaluating and optimizing program performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute program strategies aligned with organizational objectives, considering budget, resources, and timelines.

  • Develop project plans for specific initiatives, monitor progress against those plans, track and manage budget, and coordinate projects executed across several teams and business units.

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including senior leaders, business partners, and cross-functional team members.

  • Allocate resources effectively to achieve program objectives while optimizing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks that may impact program delivery, developing contingency plans as needed to minimize disruptions.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation within the program, implementing best practices and lessons learned to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Lead cross-functional teams to assure that the solutions and plans meet changing business area, customer and competitive requirements. Provide consulting expertise to all stakeholders to ensure plans are integrated into overall business area strategic and operational plans.

  • Provide regular updates and reports on program status, progress, and milestones to stakeholders, keeping them informed and engaged throughout the program lifecycle.

  • Communicate effectively with senior management, key leadership, business peers, IT peers and vendors to solve business/technical problems and provide technical solutions.

  • Develop and leverage key relationships with IT operational areas and other business operations teams to ensure information risk management and compliance are appropriately prioritized within the overall scope of activities.

  • Respond to organizational and regulatory initiatives and directives.

Preferred Requirements

  • Proven experience as a cybersecurity program manager overseeing complex projects and programs.

  • In-depth knowledge of program management methodologies and best practices

  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management tools and software.

  • At least 5 years of experience in managing complex programs and projects in IT or OT security.

  • Professional certification in project/program management like, PMP or PgMP.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Research, MIS, Computer Science, Engineering or related degrees or equivalent experience.

  • Master's degree desired.

  • At least 5 years cyber security related risk management or compliance experience , or 12 years utility experience including 3 years of compliance or risk management experience (in lieu of IT background), or any combination demonstrating equivalency preferred.

  • Advanced degree may be equivalent to some required work experience.

  • Proven track record of defining business and technical security or compliance solutions preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of IT systems.

  • Superior communication skills.

  • Proven experience recommending innovative risk management or compliance solutions to support complex business requirements preferred.

  • Superior relationship management., facilitation, project mgmt. and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong ability to coach and mentor less experienced team members.

  • Strong knowledge of cyber security threat and vulnerability management and compliance programs.

  • Ability to develop mgmt. style reporting and presentations (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel). CISSP or CISM certification desired.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $105,600.00 to $150,000.00 per year
