Summary:

  • The Operational Technology (OT) Manager position will play a crucial part in the Americas in meeting the growing needs of our expanding portfolio of assets and services and how RES delivers its core business services.

  • This role ensures OT serving the Americas region is maintained and adapted to support business change by providing:

  • OT systems and infrastructure performs and scales to support business growth.

  • Effective data acquisition, system resilience, and cyber security capabilities are inherent in OT system design and operation.

  • OT standardization and simplification practices are progressively established globally.

  • OT improvement projects are effectively supported in terms of technology delivery into operations.

  • OT systems are maintained in compliance with relevant technical regulations and standards.

  • Technology and service cost optimization measures are continually assessed and practiced.

  • Travels to RES sites to establish and maintain key stakeholders and customer relations.

Requirements:

  • Provides leadership and technical direction of OT Operations in the Americas region.

  • Manages OT infrastructure on behalf of RES Americas Operations & Maintenance (O&M,) Asset Management, and Controls Center departments, including OT infrastructure at Solar, Wind, and Battery Storage facilities and central infrastructure and communication methods to sites.

  • Oversees and undertakes incident response and resolution for RES-owned or maintained central and site-based OT systems and infrastructure to uphold agreed data acquisition and asset reliability levels, allowing RES to deliver its business services robustly.

  • Manages business requests and technical changes impacting OT systems in line with agreed standards and service levels.

  • Supports the successful delivery of technology changes associated with projects to progressively improve the standardization, performance, security, and scalability of OT systems and infrastructure.

  • Performs technical planning to ensure repeatable and timely execution of adopting new generation sites into a BAU support regime provided by the OT Function.

  • Makes key contributions to developing architecture standards for OT globally and their practical application into technology design and deployments in both site construction and adoption scenarios.

  • Supports the identification and, where approved, the introduction of new technologies which will help the business grow and enhance OT resilience and business competitiveness.

  • Provides OT system upgrade recommendations to Clients, demonstrating the financial benefit.

  • Contributes to Client contract agreements to ensure the solution meets all parties’ requirements regarding OT systems operations and data acquisition.

  • Builds and maintains internal and external relationships with key partners and industry bodies to ensure success (such as awareness of industry standards and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) system enhancements).

  • Produces regular reporting to track OT systems operational performance in terms of data acquisition and system and infrastructure reliability within the OT Team and to key America’s business stakeholders, particularly in Support Services.

  • Operates Company vehicle for site visits and business trips.

  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.

  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensures best practice OT cyber security standards are followed in adherence with the RES Cyber Security Framework to support the key business objectives of RES and our clients.

  • Orchestrates and oversees security penetration testing of OT systems and infrastructure to ensure the effective management and remediation of any resulting improvement actions.

  • Establishes and maintains a knowledge management repository for OT systems and infrastructure to uphold service levels on change delivery and operational support.

  • Serves as RES North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Compliance Officer for all NERC CIP registered facilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of OT systems and infrastructure as typically used to support energy generation.

  • Extensive knowledge of good practice design, implementation, and operation of OT environments at operational sites and using Azure cloud-based services

  • Excellent knowledge and experience in delivering and supporting large-scale OT infrastructure changes.

  • Proven experience in managing internal resources and partnering with 3rd party suppliers delivering OT-related services.

  • Awareness and understanding of globally recognized OT standards, architecture models, and communication protocols, e.g., IEC 62443, DNP3, Modbus, etc.

  • Working knowledge of Cyber security principles, frameworks, and standards, e.g., ISO27001, NERC-CIP, and NIST-CSF.

  • Uses a ‘business outcome’ approach and style to deliver technology change.

  • Proven ability to engage, build strong relationships, influence, and partner with stakeholders across functions and geographies.

  • Calm under pressure and able to logically address and execute resolutions to operational incidents.

  • Credible and capable; able to quickly build the confidence in senior managers and peers.

  • Passionate about technology and how it can improve business resilience.

  • A dynamic individual with strong, proven technical delivery skills. Unafraid of making decisions and happy to take accountability.

  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills - A capable negotiator, both internally and with third parties.

  • Must have a valid, current driver's license, eligible for corporate vehicle insurance coverage.

Qualifications:

  • High school/GED, required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in technology management or engineering, preferred.

  • Certification in architecting, deploying, and securing enterprise or OT-related cloud platforms, including Azure, AWS, and Google, preferred.

  • Vendor qualifications or equivalent in leading firewall and networking technologies such as Fortinet and Cisco, preferred.

  • 5 or more years of experience in solid foundation spanning, with a broad awareness of IT or OT, also spanning Build and Run/Service Delivery, required.

  • 3 or more years of experience leading geographically distributed teams, preferred.

  • 3 or more years of experience managing cyber security arrangements in IT or OT environments, preferred.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 5 to 15%.

  • Must possess a valid Driver’s license.

Anticipated base salary range: $143,000 - $168,000

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
