The following positions within Inpatient Adolescent Psychiatry, Inpatient
Adult Psychiatry, Psychiatric Emergency Services, CARES, and Outpatient
Behavioral Health Services are offering the opportunity to enroll in a new
program offering a cash incentive to recognize your work treating patients
with substance use disorders. This program is sponsored through the ACCESS
(Advancing Careers, Competencies, and Equity in Substance Treatment
Services) grant. Employees must be >0.6 FTE to be eligible. 50% of the
bonus will be received 90 days after signing the program contract.
* Registered Nurses (RNs) may earn up to $7,500 by December 2024
* Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) may earn up to $3,500 by December 2024
* Care Navigators may earn up to $3,500 by December 2024
Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatry provides care for adolescents ages 12-21
admitted to the hospital for evaluation, assessment, and treatment of
psychiatric issues. Adolescents are admitted out of concern for safety and to
prevent any worsening of their condition. The program is designed to encourage
progress in a therapeutic, educational, nurturing, and structured
environment. The adolescent unit uses a multidisciplinary approach to include
registered nurses and behavioral health technicians to monitor the patient's
entire stay, 24/7. The treatment team of clinicians includes
psychiatrists, clinical social workers, psychologists, and occupational
therapy. The adolescent unit features an in-facility school through the
Colorado Department of Education. The adolescent unit comprises of 21 beds.
Staffing ratios include a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 and behavioral
health technician ratio of 1:8. These ratios create safe, dignified,

Job Summary
Under minimum supervision, Utilization Management Nurse will apply quality
and utilization management activities in a system of interdisciplinary
departmental teams in order to ensure the optimal use of resources at Denver
Health.
If you are hired on as a Registered Nurse (RN) at >0.6 FTE to Inpatient
Adolescent Psychiatry, Inpatient Adult Psychiatry, Psychiatric Emergency
Services, CARES, or Outpatient Behavioral Health Services, you will be
eligible for a new program which offers a cash bonus to recognize your work
treating patients with substance use disorders.Nurses may earn up to
$7,500 by December 2024 with 50% of the bonus received 90 days after
signing the program contract.
Essential Functions:
Works closely with other DHHA staff members including providers, nursing,
insurance personnel, scheduling staff, staff in other departments. . (20%)
Participates in care planning and discharge planning with the staff,
providers and the other members of the UM Team. (20%)
Utilizes Milliman criteria in evaluating appropriateness of admissions,
length of stay, resource allocation and discharge process. Monitors and
assists with the following and determines whether Milliman criteria is met

*Timeliness of care and discharge
Participates in the education program 10%)
Provides resources for RN activities (10%)
Assists in the preparation and presentation of UM reports (10%)

*Practices sound safety and infection control practices according to agency
policies and procedures;
*Identifies safety and infection control issues.
*Evaluates quality, effectiveness and efficiency of nursing care provided.
*Perfor s qualify control on appropriate systems and equipment.
*Promotes quality care by redefining priorities for care based on evaluation
of patient/family response or changing condition.
*Provides a safe environment for all patients. Assuring proper patient
positioning and patient care throughout the patients stay.
*Evaluates practice in relation to professional standards, statutes,
regulations, hospital and departmental policies, and standards of care.
*Assumes accountability for achieving goals set jointly with the manager and
educator for the next evaluation period

Education:
Bachelor's Degree Completion of a nursing education program that satisfies
the licensing requirements of the Colorado State Board of Nursing for
