The primary duties of the Traffic Engineer include performing complex traffic
engineering projects and using sound engineering judgment. Tasks include
preparation of traffic signal, signing and striping, and detour (MOT)
plans, conduct traffic operational analysis, prepare traffic impact
analysis reports, and support various planning and design projects.
Applicant should have prior experience in these areas and should be able to
work in a team environment. May make decisions on design and engineering
procedures. May function as technical specialist or project manager on
mid-siz
Responsibilities for this role include:
Perform transportation/traffic engineering and design
Perform traffic operations analysis
Functions as a technical specialist formulating and developing project level
engineering concepts and techniques
Develops solutions to complex problems that require a high degree of
innovation and ingenuity
Participates in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling
for assigned projects
Maintains effective communication with project team members and with clients
Demonstrated proficiency in using computer-assisted engineering and design
software and equipment and office production software to perform engineering
tasks

Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Civil/Traffic/Transportation Engineering or a related
engineering degree
P.E. registration
Minimum of 5 years experience required. Traffic analysis and traffic
engineering/design desirable.
Hands on experience with Highway Capacity Software, Synchro/SimTraffic,
CORSIM.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word.
Proficiency with HCM, MUTCD, HSM is preferred
Experience with mesoscopic and/or microscopic simulation traffic softwares
(VISSIM, TransModeler, Aimsun, etc.) is highly desirable
Familiarity with MicroStation, AutoCAD desirable
Demonstrated experience with preparation of plans, specification and
estimates to state and local standards is desirable
Experience in successfully completing traffic engineering projects such as
signal timing, signing, striping, and signal design, construction
traffic control, traffic impact studies, safety studies, corridor
plans, operations analysis, multi-modal studies etc. is required
Strong verbal and written skills
