Step into Your New Role
Kleinfelder is seeking a Wetland/Permitting Professional to join our
Environmental Planning and Permitting (EP&P) Team in Denver.
Under the supervision of senior level staff, the successful candidate will
be a self-starter who will lead field teams in the completion of wetland
delineations, sampling, inspection, and provide technical support for a
variety of projects primarily in the energy sector (power, oil & gas,
and solar). The work will involve a combination of office and field work and
will include developing permit applications on behalf of clients. The position
requires strong collaboration skills, task management progressing toward
project management, and client engagement in support of our Clients in the
Rocky Mountains. Some limited travel within this region will be required for
this position. Kleinfelder offers a hybrid in office/remote work environment.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate:
At least three years of experience conducting wetland delineations in
accordance with USACE and state protocols. Plant identification, wildlife
identification, habitat assessment, and soils identification is
required; ability to lead a wetland delineation independently or with a
small team is required;
Ability to prepare technical documents, perform calculations, and conduct
analyses;
Possess excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills;
Excellent planning and organizational skills with strong problem solving
abilities and analytical skills;
Demonstrate knowledge working with state and federal regulations, including
all steps of design, submittal, and regulatory interface associated with
permits under:
Section 401/404 of the Clean Water Act (CWA)
State/local wetlands, waterways, and floodplain regulations
National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits a plus
National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) a plus
Ability to conduct work year-round in adverse climate and field conditions;
Ability to prioritize effort and effectively be engaged on multiple projects
at one time
Experience with oil and gas reclamation monitoring, preparation of SPCC
Plans and inspections, and experience completing stormwater
inspections/plans is preferred but not required.
All candidates require:
BS in an Environmental, Biological or Ecological Science, or Environmental
Policy; Masters in a relevant Biological field of study is a plus;
3 to 6 years of relevant wetland delineation experience;
Ability to work flexible work schedules and availability to meet priority
deadlines outside of normal working hours;
Experience with Trimble GPS (required) and ArcGIS (preferred, not required)
Ability to travel with short notice up to 40 percent for field work, client
meetings, agency coordination activities, etc.;
A valid drivers license;

401(k) plan, and paid holidays. The expected salary range for the
position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work
Act. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications
and experience. Salary range: $45,760 - $74,672. We will be
accepting applications through May 22, 2024 (90 days since posting date).
