Use your strengths as Clinical Account Consultant
In this role, you will be responsible for providing pharmaceutical and health management sales and business development support to Wellmark’s account services, business development and proposal teams; this includes marketing new and existing clinical strategies to control costs, and a diverse pharmacy and health management product and services portfolio. You will support the RFP/RFI process, help set retention strategies for existing clients in order to continually demonstrate the value of Wellmark pharmacy products/services and drive the implementation strategy to ensure a seamless transition for new clients.

**Work from home order: The effects of COVID-19 have moved our employees to a work from home environment. This role will start out fully remote but will be expected to work from our Des Moines, Iowa office upon our return. The time in which we expect to return to our office is undetermined but will take place when it is safe to do so.
Bachelor's Degree in a clinical discipline - e.g., pharmacy/pharmacology, nursing, medicine, etc.
1+ year of related experience:
PBM, health plan, pharmaceutical sales, or related industry.
Broad understanding of the health care delivery system, managed care and pharmacy benefit management systems, plan design and overall health management operations.
Strong consultative selling skills. With guidance, understands the needs of others, asks meaningful questions, and distills information into relevant insights in order to develop customized solutions that meet customer needs. Adaptable and effective with change.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Expands industry knowledge and understands the clinical landscape, including impacts to programs, services and health insurance.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively articulate complex information (e.g., value proposition, clinical information, drug spend) to varying audiences including senior leadership and non-clinical audiences. Strong group facilitation and presentation skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to negotiate in order to drive account retention and/or growth.
Strong understanding of applicable rules, regulations, and guidelines. Aware of implications to pharmacy and health management.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Technical aptitude to learn new systems quickly.
Reviews/analyzes data and effectively communicates the story with actionable results.
Ability to travel 20-30%.
Pharmacy Degree (BS/PharmD) or a graduate degree in public health, health care or business administration, etc.
Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in Iowa.
Strong understanding of PBM/health plan sales and marketing best practices.
Strategic account management experience, including lead development/generation, development of carve-in/out strategies, building/selling customized client solutions, etc.
a. Serve as a pharmacy and health management resource by working cross functionally to understand Wellmark’s pharmacy and health management programs and services and develop a segment specific PBM sales strategy around retention and business development.
b. Serve as a clinical liaison and subject matter resource between PBM, clients prospective and current, Wellmark internal pharmacy operations and account management teams and external group decision makers.
c. Develop quarterly sales training materials and Wellmark’s pharmacy benefit value proposition for each segment of the Wellmark portfolio. Collaborate on the development of Wellmark’s value proposition and an account management play book to assist account management and sales staff in selling pharmacy and health management products and services.
d. Support the development and ongoing maintenance of strategic sales messages for responses to RFP/RFI from large account customers and consultants. Will participate in finalist presentations, customer presentations and strategic account meetings across the premier clients approximately 45 regional accounts.
e. Analyze, interpret and develop written recommendations using client specific claims data to improve overall healthcare outcomes and control client specific drug spend. Translate complex clinical information into effective communications with both clinical and nonclinical external and internal stakeholders. Collaborate with Wellmark’s Analytic Consulting department to align reporting capabilities promoting Wellmark Pharmacy Program financial value to our self-funded customers.
f. Collaborate with the product and market implementation team in the development and marketing of pharmacy related products and services.
g. Use industry knowledge to assist in developing customer centric solutions to current pharmacy/healthcare trends affecting their overall cost. Understand the clinical landscape and effectively communicate clinical changes to programs, services and formularies to key customers as necessary.
