Job Title: Forklift Operator
Job Description
Operate sit-down forklifts to handle inbound and outbound shipments. The forklifts are Nissan models equipped with 3-4 levers and a clutch pedal for efficient operation. You will handle various products including totes, large plastic containers, metal containers, pallets, and lids, ensuring effective transport and stacking of containers into trailers and tight spaces. Use scanners for product tracking and assist with general warehouse duties.
Responsibilities
Operate sit-down forklifts to handle inbound and outbound shipments.
Familiarize with Nissan forklifts that have tilt, up/down, side to side, and adjust levers, as well as a clutch pedal.
Safely handle long forks for picking up large and small items to avoid accidents.
Transport and stack different sizes of containers (3x3, 8x12, 12x20, etc.) into trailers and tight spaces.
Push outbound shipments, load trailers, and stack containers evenly and correctly.
Use scanners to scan product in and out, and potentially use Microsoft Word or Excel for product tracking.
Assist with general warehouse duties including sweeping, stacking, cleaning, and organizing.
Essential Skills
1,000 hours of sit-down forklift experience in the past 5 years (4 hours per day).
Forklift experience within the last year.
1+ years of shipping/receiving experience.
Ability to read and speak English.
Strong communication skills.
Longevity on a resume.
Reliable transportation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience using RF scanners.
Familiarity with inventory, picking, and material handling processes.

Work Environment
You will work in a new warehouse in north Des Moines, characterized by a fast-moving environment with forklifts in operation. The shift runs from Monday to Friday, 6:00am-2:00pm, with occasional mandatory Saturdays. Employees must be open to working two Saturdays a month on a rotating basis. The team consists of 15 people including the Facility Manager and Shift Manager. Steel-toed boots are required, and other PPE such as vests, safety glasses, and gloves will be provided.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
