Honeywell Sr Advanced R&D Engineer/Scientist - Membrane Specialist in Des Plaines, Illinois

As a Senior Advanced R&D Engineer / Scientist here at Honeywell, you will be accountable for conducting advanced research and development activities to drive innovation and contribute to the success of our cutting-edge projects. You will work at the intersection of science and engineering, utilizing your technical expertise to develop and advance materials that are integral to our products. You will report to our R&D Manager and work out of our Des Plaines, IL location. This role is eligible for hybrid work mode, except for the first 90 days.

In this role, you will have a direct impact on the development of new materials and technologies, contribute to the design and testing of advanced materials, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of materials into our products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design, development, and testing of advanced materials to meet the specific requirements of our products

  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of materials into our products

  • Conduct advanced research to identify novel materials, processing techniques, and technologies for future applications

  • Develop and maintain relationships with external material suppliers, research institutions, and industry experts

  • Implement and manage materials testing and characterization, ensuring materials meet performance and quality standards

  • Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and materials in the field, and recommend their incorporation into product development

  • Guide materials selection and evaluation for new product designs, considering factors such as cost, performance, and sustainability

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and industry best practices

    The application period for the job is estimated to be 40 days from the job posting date; however, this may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates.

    The annual base salary range for this position is $122,000 - $152,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.

    YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as materials science, engineering, or a related field

  • 6+ years of experience in materials engineering, with a proven track record of materials development

  • Proficiency in materials characterization, testing, and thoughtfulness

  • Knowledge of material properties, selection, and engineering applications

  • Strong problem-solving and thoughtful skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
