Job Title: Quality Inspector
Job Description
The primary responsibility of this role is to inspect fabricated composite parts built to print, ensuring they meet stringent quality standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in performing First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 standards and possess a strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). This position requires proficiency with precision measuring tools, including digital calipers and 3-D handheld scanners.
Responsibilities
Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) in compliance with AS9102 standards to ensure parts meet all design and manufacturing requirements before production begins.
Perform regular in-process inspections of composite parts during production to ensure ongoing quality and adherence to design specifications.
Conduct final inspections of completed parts to verify conformance with drawings and specifications.
Utilize precision measuring tools, including but not limited to digital calipers, micrometers, and 3-D handheld scanners, to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
Apply a strong understanding of GD&T principles to interpret engineering drawings and inspect parts accordingly.
Accurately document inspection results and maintain records in compliance with company policies and industry standards.
Provide feedback to production and engineering teams regarding potential improvements in design, manufacturing processes, or inspection techniques.
Ensure all inspections comply with relevant quality standards, including AS9100 and customer-specific requirements.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in performing FAI in accordance with AS9102 standards.
Strong understanding of GD&T and the ability to interpret engineering drawings.
Experience using precision measuring tools such as digital calipers, micrometers, and 3-D handheld scanners.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality inspection, preferably in a CNC machining or composite manufacturing environment.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy in inspecting parts and documenting results.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address quality issues proactively.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with quality management software.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or certification in Quality, CNC Machining, or a related field preferred.
Familiarity with composite materials and CNC machining processes is a plus.
