This role is based at our Detroit, MI site of BPG.

How will you make an impact?

As a Quality Supervisor, you will lead and guide a team of Quality Control analysts in developing and conducting a range of analytical, physical, and microbiological tests in additional to Quality Assurance activities in a Peptone manufacturing facility. Your role will involve overseeing resource allocation, scheduling, and execution of all QC functions at the site. With your experience and leadership, you will strengthen the Quality functions within QC to meeting growing customer needs and ensure compliance with industry standards.

What will you do?

  • A working QC/QA supervisor responsible for leading in-process and release testing of Raw material and intermediate products for a variety of testing methods (physical and microbiological) testing.

  • Lead the team through empowerment, fostering relationships, and creating an environment that supports individual career growth and organizational success.

  • Lead a culture of quality awareness and compliance with ISO and industry standards and guidelines.

  • Drive operational performance by identification, monitoring, and trending of quality metrics.

  • Responsible for initiating and leading Quality Investigations within the QC area ensuring timely resolution.

  • Has the technical expertise to lead projects related to new QC equipment and test methods qualification into the QC area.

  • Engage in daily oversight and guidance of problem requests, complaint records, corrective and preventive actions, and change controls to drive on time and scientifically sound closure.

  • Serve as QC representative on cross-functional, inter-facility and site’s tiers system.

  • Ensure lab throughput meets business demand by effectively planning resource and lab capacity.

  • Develop training and cross training plan of lab personnel to enable efficient lab throughput.

  • Adopt continuous improvement methodologies to create processes and systems aimed at reducing lead times and improving lab testing throughput.

How will you get here?

Education

A Bachelor's in science field (e.g. Chemistry or Biochemistry) is required.

Experience

Minimum of 2-3 years proven experience in a Quality Control environment (chemistry focused). Experience in Life Science or Pharmaceutical experience is preferred.

Prior experience in managing a team is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Proficient knowledge of development and validation of analytical chemistry methods (ICP MS, Nitrogen testing, FTIR).

Demonstrated ability in troubleshooting and solving complex issues.

Excellent technical writing skills and verbal communication are required to interact with cross functional teams and engage with employees at all levels of the organization.

Adopt and participate in PPI (Practical Process Improvement) initiatives to identify improvements and cost saving to the business.
