Senior Advisor Risk Control & Engineering - Property Risk Consulting

What will the Job entail?

As a Senior Advisor Risk Control & Engineering, you will go on-site to assess the risks of our clients related to their Property insurance, give advices related to Property Risk Management and write a survey report based on which property brokers will approach the insurance market.

This position involves the methodical identification, evaluation, and mitigation of various risk factors (fire, natural hazard, liability, etc.) to reduce an organization's potential to have a loss, and improve the overall cost of risk.

You will also be accountable for the following:

  • Conducting facility risk control surveys

  • Developing risk control management programs for prevention and improving premises or operations

  • Developing client loss estimates (MFL/PML) on site specific and portfolio basis to assist with insurance program designs

  • Carrying out new facility risk control project reviews and providing related advice

  • Conducting hazard identification and risk assessments at client sites

  • Conducting incident investigations of client losses

  • Developing and delivering hazard awareness and loss prevention training

  • Preparing insurance underwriting information reports and plot plans

  • Evaluating and responding to insurance company recommendations

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

    The obtained information will be used to provide advice for the broker, insurance underwriter and the customer.

    Communication with suppliers and public instances in relation to the overall Property insurance mitigation plan is also expected.

    The Risk Control Engineer will conduct property safety audits in order to assess the potential risk and edit underwriting information reports.

    The report will be used by the brokers to investigate the insurance market. Furthermore, the risk engineer will determine recommendations for prevention and mitigation of losses.

    He/She will also provide our customers with in-depth advice related to the construction of new buildings respecting the insurance requirements and detailed specifications of fire prevention installations, including sprinkler systems.

    Risk Survey Reports will be mainly written in English. Recommendation reports are written in English, Dutch and French.

    You will be based in Belgium and this will also be your main territory to work in, but occasionally surveys abroad are part of the job.

    Job Requirements

  • You have a degree in engineering (mechanical, civil, chemical, electric, industrial or petroleum engineering)

  • Experience in the (global) insurance/broker market and property insurance consulting are an asset, as well as experience with an inspection or security service

  • You are fluent in oral and written professional English and speak at least Dutch and French

  • We are looking for a team player with good communication skills and capability to work on an individual basis

  • You have clear analytical competencies

  • Well-structured organizational skills and accuracy, as well as a pro-active hands-on mentality are important elements within our international organization
