Job Overview:
A construction Supervisor Reports to the Construction Superintendent or Area Superintendent.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Is charged with the daily direct supervision of HSE matters at site and assures the implementation of the HSE program by the contractors.
Assists, as required, in arranging for work permits, safety tests and actions with regard to safety.
Organizes and coordinates the assigned part of the job.
Studies design specifications and drawings.
Is responsible to give advance notice to Field Engineering Department of scheduled tests/inspections.
If required, inspects quality and quantity of the work carried out and checks, witnesses and approves tests to be carried out in accordance with applicable specifications.
Resolves difficulties and problems in discussion with contractor representatives and, if necessary, also with the Construction Superintendent.
Assists, as required, the Construction Warehouse Organization with inspection of material and equipment received and the preventive maintenance of equipment stored.
Assists, if required, with documentation for issue of materials to contractor.
Instructs contractors by means of written orders (WIM) for minor additional work or small variations and checks the related time and quantity charges as applicable.
Ensures proper flow of information and documentation to Field Office Engineering Section and Quality Control Group.
Marks up files on all field modifications to ensure that the latest information is available to all concerned.
Attends, if required, regular coordination and progress meetings.
Assists, if required, during testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning.
Checks, as required, the “as-built” information submitted by the contractor(s) and passes all the necessary information on for the Office Engineering Group.
Essential Qualifications and Education:
Minimum Technical High School in the assigned discipline
When working on jobsite: VCA-VOL or equivalent
Minimum 5 years experience in the assigned discipline supervisory function
Preferably international construction experience
Good command of the English language
Flexibility
Competent with most aspects of personal computers
Has the ability, the flexibility and the drive to:
Ensure proper handover when changing functions
Replace colleagues during their absences
Support colleagues with a heavy workload
