Job Overview:

Perform examination of welds/material by Radiography (RT), Ultrasonic (UT), Magnetic Testing (MT), Dye Penetrant (PT) and Alternative Current Field Measurement (ACFM) based upon code and contractual specification.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Perform NDT examination of welds and materials by any one of the following methods and qualifications (i.e. RT, UT, PT, MT & ACFM) in accordance with a written Project NDT Plan, NDT Procedures, Code, and Contractual Specification.

  • Be capable of executing the examination in accordance with approved NDT procedures and internationally recognized codes /specs. Determine acceptance/rejection based on the defined criteria. The Inspection Tech shall liaise with the assigned Quality Inspector to determine the completion of the assigned task.

  • Report conforming work and identify non-conforming work for rectification. Ensure rectified work is inspected by the QC Inspector prior to examination by the original NDT Method.

  • Be occupationally Qualified to internationally recognized schemes to determine competency (i.e. PCN, CSWIP, ASNT, etc.) requirements and shall perform duties ethically and safely in accordance with the professional occupation guidelines

  • Be proficient in assessing examination results accurately, sentencing welds, and reporting same, according to the relevant code/spec acceptance criteria

  • Ensure proper maintenance of NDT equipment and maintain equipment certification records

  • Be capable of communicating the relevant NDT procedure requirements to clients as and when required

  • Determine conformity / non-conforming flaws and report accurately

  • Liaise with Inspection Tech Supervisor, Production Supervisor, Customer, QC Inspector

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • High school (10+2) qualified or 2 yrs. diploma. ASNT/PCN Level II in MUT/MT/PT or RTFI

  • 3+ years in radiography and/ or Ultrasonic, MT & PT

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

  • ASNT, PCN or CSWIP Level II.
