Tesla participates in the E-Verify Program What to Expect The Sr Payroll Manager will be responsible for all aspects of processing North America Payroll and will be based out of our Austin, Texas offices. They will support our Payroll Supervisor, processing team, and will report to the Director of Payroll. This individual will be responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of a large and complex 70,000+ employee payroll. Additional responsibilities will include maintaining and updating team procedures and training, being a subject matter expert for North American payroll, and will make critical and timely decisions to ensure payroll is compliant as well as employee concerns prioritized.What You'll Do

  • Review and approve the weekly, bi-weekly, Canada, Mexico, and US multi-state payroll for salaried, hourly, seasonal, and intern employees ensuring the accuracy of data entry and ensuring compliance
  • Work closely with the SOX Team to assure the controls of payroll functions are timely and accurate according to SOX narrative documentation
  • Support the Payroll Tax Accounting Team to assure month and year-end financial close data is accurate and complete
  • Assist the Payroll Tax accounting team in resolving Tax filing tracers with the Ultipro/OSV tax filing unit in a timely manner
  • Partner with stock administration to ensure all stock and ESPP transactions record accurately in the payroll and the accounting system
  • Ensure that all state, province, and federal pay rules execute correctly
  • Responsible to provide analytical data to support reporting requirements within and outside the organization (government census, benefit census, eligible wages, workers compensation, new reporting queries set up) What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, or equivalent

  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) preferred
  • 5+ years payroll management experience in US and Canada, including 3+ years multi-state payroll required
  • Ability to develop payroll processes and procedures
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and issue resolution required
  • Knowledge of UltiPro Payroll and Kronos strongly preferred
  • Strong Excel skills required Compensation and Benefits
