About the Job:
An opportunity has arisen for a Head Sommelier to join our team at Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab. Overseeing the wine program of a property, ensuring an exceptional wine experience for guests. Curating the wine list, managing inventory, training staff, and providing expert recommendations to patrons. Aiming to enhance the overall dining experience through knowledgeable and personalized wine service, contributing to the establishment's reputation and success.
Develop and maintain an extensive and balanced wine list that complements the menu and caters to diverse customer preferences.
Monitor wine stock levels, manage orders, and conduct regular inventories to ensure optimal wine availability and minimize waste.
Train and educate F&B staff on wine knowledge, service techniques, and the proper handling and storage of wines.
Provide personalized wine recommendations and pairing suggestions to enhance the dining experience and ensure guest satisfaction.
Taste and approve all wines before service to ensure they are in perfect condition and maintain proper storage conditions for all wines.
Promote and upsell premium wines and special selections to increase revenue and elevate the guest experience.
Ensure all wine service practices adhere to LQA standards and the establishment’s policies.
Work closely with the Beverage Manager, Executive Chef, and other management to coordinate wine selections and special events.
Organize and oversee wine-related events, such as tastings, wine dinners, and promotional activities.
About You:
- 3-5 years of experience in the wine industry, including experience in a supervisory or managerial role within a luxury high-end restaurant, hotel, or wine-focused establishment.
