The Logistics Operations Manager is responsible for planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing any assigned projects. They have an entrepreneurial mindset, which allows them to think about a project beyond the basic skills needed to manage it (i.e., technical know-how and knowledge of the tasks being assigned to keep the project moving forward). Monitors programs/projects from initiation through delivery and interfacing with internal customers or department personnel. Organizes project activities and interdepartmental meetings; ensures communication facilitates completion of the program/project on schedule. May assign and monitor work of technical personnel providing support and interpretation of instructions/objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Enhance customer relationships by identifying areas for improvement in the overall customer experience
Identify customer pain points, perform gap analysis and recommend value add operational improvements and cost savings projects
Serve as the first point of contact to support customer queries/problems for daily operations
Gather requirements, deliverables and timeframes from stakeholders
Activity and resource planning (i.e., define project scope/objective and identify available resources)
Create a clear and concise approach to execute the project and monitor its progress
Organize and motivate the project team
Set realistic deadlines and communicate them to the team consistently
Analyze and manage project risk throughout the duration of the project
Communicate key milestones to the project to all key stakeholders
Lead project calls discussing progress, challenges and ultimately facilitate decision-making
Collaborate with other project managers/acting project managers to build consistency in all processes
Conduct post-implementation reviews (i.e., evaluate performance against defined project goals) and report back to Director, Program Management
Ensure all projects follow the proper project management life cycle and include proper documentation (e.g., project charters, project documentation for public consumption, technical documentation, end-user documentation, document storage and controls)
Manage multiple large scale projects at once
Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in project management, including emerging tools, techniques and best practices and proactively apply new knowledge to improve processes
Bachelor's degree with a specialization in Supply Chain , related field or equivalent experience
5+ years logistics, supply chain, large scale warehouse operations and projects or related experience
3+ years experience in operations management or project management
3+ years experience in owning stakeholder management and facilitation
Strong knowledge of large scale warehouse operations
Industry certifications such as Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma, Supply Chain, PMP is preferred
Excellent customer service skills, including negotiation, proven ability to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results
Risk sensitive, recognizes when problems arise or are likely to arise
Critical thinking using logic, data & qualitative reasoning
Strong facilitation skills
Ability to perform independently and achieve success in unstructured and rapidly evolving environments
Ability to develop, evaluate, recommend and present best options
Ability to understand financials and develop budgets
Travel less than 10%
