Job Overview:
The Principal Dimension Control Tech directly impacts their and related teams' effectiveness. They exchange ideas and information relating to Dimension Control effectively. The Principal Dimension Control Tech may work autonomously within established Dimension Control procedures and practices. They act as a lead, coordinating the work of others. The Principal Dimension Control Tech proposes improvements to processes and methods within the Dimension Control discipline.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Set out and establish a suitable control network
Review/perform the following surveys:
Post-weld surveys as specified control plan and as required by the governing specification
Pre-weld surveys for complex assemblies as may be required by the Fabrication Foreman and Operations Engineer
Brownfield and greenfield as-built survey as required
Complete continuous level surveys during load out and weighing
Prepare dimensional control reports
Generate as out of tolerance (OOT) report in case of non-conformance and resurvey the structure after remedial action has taken place
Maintain daily log for Out of Tolerances (OOT) and supply statistical data for KPls
Calibrate Survey Equipment
Ensure the out-of-tolerance registers are maintained and all non-conformances are signed off by the responsible Project Superintendent
Assist the General Superintendent and their fabrication team in planning and review build sequence/distortion
Identify and discuss with the Fabrication Superintendent and Senior Ops Engineer any new or unusual survey requirement
Calculation of geometry, true length, splay angle, footprint, length of each elevation, as built angle, chamber, theoretical coordinates for related projects
Prepare plan location and calculate all theoretical coordinates related to the project
Use various types of survey-measuring equipment
Understand and implementation of ITP, Codes and Specifications
Operate Auto Cad and use calculation programs
Essential Qualifications and Education:
3-year Diploma in Technical Engineering, preferred Bachelor’s in Technical or Civil Engineering
8+ years of experience with 5 years of experience in surveying
3 years of Production Control leading a team of engineers or surveyors plus 3 years of surveying
