The Operations Emerging Technologies team delivers innovative technical solutions using a mix of existing and new technologies to solve real world problems with clear and compelling value stories. We follow agile approaches and are focused on making an impact for our business partners and for our patients.

Our remit is all of Operations, and our use cases span Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and late stage RnD through commercialization business processes.

We bring together cross-functional teams and work on the frontiers of business process and technology. Historically, we have delivered solutions drawing on a blend of technologies and capabilities including service bus and event driven model integrations, advanced analytics, AI/ML, GenAI, AR/VR, and traditional stack offerings such as MES, ERP, LIMS, PowerApps, and RPA.

You will power forward our strategic digital transformation projects such as Factory of the Future and in the process become a recognized expert in your domain.

Job Description

The Digital Operations Solutions Lead is a multi-discipline domain expert passionate about digital transformation in life sciences manufacturing and quality. They play a key role shaping the “definition of winning” for new Factory of the Future, Industry 4.0, and Advanced Analytics use cases, and de-risking the delivery and change management of new solutions through integrated technology and process engineering.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Leads subject matter experts in specifying the right end-state for Factory of the Future and Advanced Analytics use cases across people, process, technology, and data domains

  • Proactively identifies opportunities for standardization, and influences stakeholders and decision makers

  • Proactively seeks out strategic business opportunities with business unit leaders from one or more business areas to drive innovation and satisfy unmet needs

  • Acts as a change agent to realize benefits from digital investments

  • Provides advice, assistance, and leadership to enable the planning, procurement, provision, delivery, management, maintenance, and effective business use of information systems

  • Partners with the business to document new requirements and use cases and identify ways to enhance business processes, information flows, and operations by leveraging new and existing systems and IT technology components

  • Functions and acts as a recognized leader in multiple technical and/or functional domains

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as technical expert or lead projects and technical staff to develop, test, and implement significant (a) new products, or (b) operational improvements, or (c) devise new approaches to problems

  • Conducts investigations, coordinate research, and give technical advice to drive the adoption or integration of new technologies and their business impact

  • Identifies information required to support the business strategy and leads the development of appropriate information management strategies

  • Develops appropriate Technology strategies aligned with the business vision and goals

  • Champions change and innovation, and stimulates creativity and innovation in others

  • Works with business unit clients to understand specific business needs, processes, business drivers and business strategy; communicates resulting needs and opportunities for business process improvement that can be enabled via technology; investigates and understands capabilities of existing systems and technologies already in use

  • Develops business relationships and integrates activities with other departments to ensure successful implementation and support of initiative approach and project efforts

  • Participates in recognizing the need and/or opportunities for setting policies and procedures

  • Conducts training and capability demonstrations; makes recommendations to process stakeholders regarding the correct approach to achieve process improvement objectives

  • Brokers services within digital solutions community on behalf of customers and support stakeholder groups; coordinates portfolio of solutions and identifies interdependencies

  • Continually look for opportunities for cost avoidance and cost reductions

  • Responsible for direct and indirect people leadership including setting expectations, coaching, counseling, developing, evaluating, and providing feedback

  • Establishes staffing/resource plans

  • Meets and exceed department and function delivery excellence targets

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with 7 years’ experience; Master's Degree with 6 years’ experience; PhD with 2 years’ experience.

  • A technical bachelor’s degree such as Computer Science, Engineering (any specialty), a hard science, or similar technical concentration

  • A recognized domain expert strong in both technology and business processes

  • An expert in more than one of the following SCADA, Ignition, MES, SAP, LES, data historians, PowerApps, low code/no code technologies, SAP, AR/VR, constraint optimization and scheduling algorithms, data science, AI/ML models, data visualization technologies, LLMs, machine vision, robotics, digital transformation, robotic process automation

  • An expert in at least one manufacturing, quality, supply chain, or SnT business process

Bonus experiences that will differentiate candidates

  • Operations or Operations Research experience

  • Digital transformation roles

  • PnL ownership
