Investment Oversight oversees the implementation of policy, strategy and performance, and the investment platform on which products are managed. We ensure the delivery, maintenance and development of appropriately constituted and managed products, subject to ongoing rigour, effective oversight and meeting with the supervisory expectations of the fund Boards and regulators.

Investment Oversight Associate - Dublin

The Associate will have responsibilities across Investment Oversight’s Product, Performance and Platform pillars, gaining exposure across product lines, pipeline management, analysis and reporting to support senior members of the Investment Oversight team to whom they will be assigned.

Initial duties will focus on Product governance, including the regular compilation and presentation of internal analysis and to boards. Over time we envisage role expansion, with rotation of responsibilities within the team to ensure continuous development across BlackRock’s investment management platform, strategy models and asset classes.

The candidate will have opportunity to develop and take ownership of policies and procedures operated by the Investment Oversight team and to contribute to analysis, research and reporting to support senior management based in Dublin. They will have the opportunity to contribute to and develop their competencies across regulatory and governance topics, with impact across the Investment Oversight’s EMEA model managed from Dublin in their coverage of common initiatives, such as those set out by ESMA and other authorities with respect to (for example) Sustainable Investing, Value and Liquidity.

Core Responsibilities

• Actively participating in decisions to champion our clients’ interests and assist the business to translate the highest fiduciary standards into their daily work

• Generate, maintain and review investment strategy guideline database across the range of funds, applying those guidelines to their oversight and governance

• Resolution of investment guideline escalations and queries, engaging with the key stakeholders from Legal & Compliance, Investment and Regulatory Risk, Portfolio Management and other teams

• Participate in the Product Development Lifecycle from initial concept through to launch, and oversight of the fund investment profile thereafter

• Sourcing, validation and analysis of performance data, preparation of presentations and performance reporting for BlackRock governance bodies

• Support of the conduct of oversight of delegated Investment Management functions provided to Boards

• Develop knowledge of asset management and regulatory frameworks including understanding their application and impact on fund ranges under team’s oversight

Experience

Our ideal candidate will

  • Have at least five years’ experience within a leading asset manager, investment/fund manager or professional service firm and will have gained expertise in financial supervisory regimes (AIFMD, UCITS) and related regulations and guidance (such as CP-86) including practical translation into internal framework and policies;

  • Be experienced in policy and performance analysis of fixed income, equity and multi-asset investment strategies in both a mutual fund and ETF format, including their practical implementation, instruments, utilisation of derivatives, leverage, hedging, investment and regulatory risk concepts; demonstrable interest in current markets, fund concepts, regulatory themes application;

  • Have a high appetite for learning and development and possess relevant qualifications and experience including those related to risk, investment performance and attribution, investment compliance or financial markets, supported by practical experience;

  • Possess strong execution, partnership and relationship management skills with the ability to engage successfully with stakeholders at all levels of the business in a fiduciary governance context;

  • Be a highly-motivated self-starter, with sound judgment, excellent technical, markets and regulatory knowledge, strong team ethic, combined with high energy, enthusiasm, resilience, tenacity and diplomacy

  • Have strong prioritisation and time management skills; ability to manage multiple requirements and deliver effective outcomes efficiently and have excellent communication and reporting capabilities – ability to interpret financial data and clearly articulate at all levels, including portfolio managers, fund directors, external auditors, senior management;

  • Have high competency in MS Excel and PowerPoint and composition of high value insightful analysis; python or other coding experience is an advantage.

  • Be a fluent professional English language is required, other European languages an advantage
