Shire Payroll Specialist EMEA - Dublin in Dublin, Ireland

Primary Duties

Responsible for the day to day processing assigned payrolls ( EMEA region) using in-house system (ADP) or through outsource. Completing banking requirements for salary and tax payments and month end reconciliations. Also ensuring timely query resolution and providing any additional project work support when required

Working closely with supervisor:

  • Ensure payrolls are processed accurately, timely and in accordance with country local requirements

  • Ensure all equity transactions are captured and processed within the pay periods

  • Complete month end payroll activities-preparing journals, accruals and Balance Sheet reconciliations

  • Ensure that monthly and yearly local tax payments and compliance requirements are met

  • Ensure sufficient controls are in place and implemented to capture changes month on month and any differences are reconciled and explained

  • Schedule, facilitate and participate in payroll-related meetings and presentations

  • Provide timely and accurate reporting to internal and external agencies, e.g. Inland Revenue, etc.

  • Prepare employee and payroll tax payments

  • Create and maintain control documentation, process flows and procedures

  • Work with other HR functions to ensure consistent and accurate flow of information

  • Work with external providers regarding specific payroll treatment for employees e.g. expatriate, international assignments & equity

  • Work with internal and external audit to ensure the integrity of the payroll information

  • Ensure a consistent focus and involvement in driving efficiencies and process improvements

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Experience as a payroll specialist or equivalent/similar position

  • Experience processing payroll across the EMEA region - desirable

  • Financial accounting exposure up to Balance sheet

  • Knowledge and application of payroll principles, concepts and industry practices and standards – desirable

  • CIPP/IPASS certification desirable

  • Equity and Mobility exposure – desirable

  • Understanding of following procedures and HR practices

  • To be able to understand the importance of escalating issues that sit beyond the scope of the role
