Amazon Technical Program Manager, Managed Operations in Dublin, Ireland

Description

AWS is set to introduce the inaugural European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), marking a significant development in utility computing (UC). To spearhead this initiative, we are actively seeking experienced Technical Program Managers with a strong background in program management and working with Software Engineers. As part of the AWS Managed Operations team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-availability AWS services, including EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock, exclusively for EU customers. European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) is a part of AWS Utility Computing (UC).

AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS. Within AWS UC, Managed Operations engineers engage with AWS customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

Eligibility requirement

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.

  • Successful applicants must have the legal right to work in Ireland.

  • Amazon will provide relocation support for successful applicants relocating within the European Union.

Key job responsibilities

In this role you will work closely with the software development and product teams to deliver high quality, scalable products deployed around the world. You will collaborate with the product teams to deliver the best product with most efficient use of resources and technologies. You will work with all the stakeholders to assemble project teams, assign responsibilities, identify appropriate resources needed, and develop schedules to ensure timely completion of projects by meeting project milestones. You will also assess risks, anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, make tradeoffs, balance the business needs versus technical constraints and encourage risk-taking behavior to maximize business benefit. Successful candidates will have a technical background, be detail driven and have excellent problem-solving abilities.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other technical or business field

  • 6+ years of experience managing technical programs across cross-functional development teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience in project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management.

  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in software architecture and system design

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to scale the businesses and provide reporting to senior leadership.

  • Strong sense of ownership, including an ability to promote operational excellence.

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.

  • Experience with AWS platforms, services and design patterns.
