Salvation Army Maintenance Custodian in Duluth, Minnesota

Position Summary The Salvation Army Northern Division Duluth Corps is doing the most good by providing holistic, person-centered services to the local community. Services include worship and spiritual care; short and long-term case management; housing; food, clothing, utility, and rental assistance; youth programming; and connections to community partners. The Maintenance Custodian is responsible for cleaning, minor maintenance, and grounds keeping. $19.00/hour, 29 hours/week 215 South 27th Avenue West, Duluth, MN 55806 Essential Functions (approximate time spent) Perform custodial duties to maintain organized and sanitary conditions in corps properties. (60%) Assist with routine maintenance on properties and equipment (e.g., HVAC, electric, plumbing, carpentry, painting, power equipment). (15%) Load and unload food/donation deliveries. (10%) Perform minor repair work to maintain safety and within the scope of training/regulations. (5%) Assist with special/seasonal events, including room set up, etc. (5%) Maintain grounds, including lawn care and snow/ice removal. (5%) Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent required. Two years of custodial experience. Pass background checks. A valid driver's license and meeting MVR requirements are preferred. Competencies Working knowledge of safe handling of equipment, chemicals, and materials regularly used in basic maintenance and custodial duties. Ability to perform some or all physical tasks including lifting, scrubbing, sweeping, mopping, and other custodial duties. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Proficient with PC, Microsoft Office, and databases. Working Conditions Regular physical work including lifting, bending, kneeling, climbing, walking, and standing. Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly and lift 100 pounds occasionally. Professional environment; not eligible for a remote-friendly work environment. Must be able to communicate clearly with colleagues.
